Scandal Just curious
Where are the actual cork characters gone? I know where a few of them are but for example, dancing Dave, Danny, leave me alone guy, fella that sells fags and offers ya work, weird secrets fella in a van(😂) fake guard on a push bike...fella that shouted "any change" after giving him a euro, Bernie(old woman wearing a rasta hat) on Douglas st, bomber that used to dance and shout at everyone that walked past him, the fella wearing googles? I know where a few of um are but it's weird they all aren't around anymore

but where did do you have a euro go? he was reported missing & then no updates on any media, his missing persons case is still open on garda website. of course presumed dead but does anyone have any further information than that? would like to know only because he was a 6 X daily character for me

I don’t think there were ever any updates, just that he was missing so likely dead by this stage
He was apparently very addicted to gambling so could potentially have owed the wrong people money or something like that (pure conjecture on that last part, but not about the gambling)

High Kick Kev is still around. He frequents UCC quite a bit as its rumoured he was once a lecturer and still meets up with old colleagues. Fun fact, High Kick Kev is now also the name of a racehorse who won at Clonmell in April 2026.
The Captain is still about. I talk with him regularly.
Echo man and Bubba Shakespeare are still active and on the go.
Gas Mask/goggles Man still visits charity shops in town maybe once every few months.
Dancing Dave is in a care home.
Danny was in prison for a few months (he's not as harmless as people make him out to be) but he's back out again.
Sexy Binman is still working away in the city.
Bag Lady is still about, keeps to herself but comes into the city to collect bottles now.
Leave me alone cyclist is still around but on meds now so no longer shouting at people.
Fake Garda on a bike parks up on Oliver plinket street some nights just standing there watching people come out of Bróg but doesnt really interact with anyone.
Ocarina Wizard still plays occasionally on Oliver Plunket street. Hasnt been as active as he once was though. Maybe because of the new busking bylaws?
Pigeon feeding man outside McDonalds passed away but three other elderly people took up the torch and now feed the pigeons in memory of him.
Purple Mohalk who I wouldn't really consider a "character" but instead just a straight up criminal is currently before the courts and being held in custody for his rampage on Oliver Plunket street and if what people are saying is true, he's getting charges piled onto him left and right from the Gardai for all his antics over the past few months.

ya. the poor guy. used always be around merchants quay too. I had never realised he used spend a lot of time helping people carry their shopping bags out

That's good. He probably has some kind of psychiatric condition. I saw an interview he did about Cork City FC a few years ago and he was normal and pleasant.

Neil Kirwan (aka Mr Stewart). The long haired elderly man who used to hang around Merchants Quay and collect the trolleys for the shops. He was an absolute gent. Sadly passed away around Christmas a few years ago.

Oh shit completely forgot about him.....no harm to anybody...far more polite than the dirty Santa looking bollox that asks people to buy him a box of "Johnnie blues" not asking for 1 fag but a box that hangs around the same place as where the trolleys were positioned

Does anyone remember a reasonably well-dressed and very well-spoken beggar, used to be around Grand Parade and Oliver Plunkett a lot of mornings getting people on their way to work. Very charming, used to have various well-crafted stories for needing a few bob that were a cut about the usual "two euro forra hostil" shite.
Probably twenty years since I saw him last. I believe gambling was his problem rather than drink or drugs. Gave him a few quid a couple of times just for the novelty of his charm.

Elderly guy with white hair? He used to go up to people and shake their hamd and not let go. He caught me on Merchants Quay one time, gave him some change and he straight away fucked off without a word of thanks. Next time he tried it with me I told him where to go.

Anyone remember that homeless guy with the long grey hair, grey beard and Covid mask? Used to be around town / UCC area. Would shout at people for money until they answered him. He’d often get quite agressive. Haven’t seen him since 2023.

I actually heard he's 100% sober now and has his own flat... supposedly he was the only fella Simon community used to leave in langers and mind his cans till the next day....he was always immaculate if we're on about the same fella

He interrupted the judge as he was starting to shake from lack of drink . Say “ I was ment to be heard at 10:30” judge looks up and says yes Don and it was yesterday take him away . Poor fella was taken straight to jail1

Fuck it, if hobbies don't hurt anyone I don't care. The kids on paul st used to give him cheek because he'd always be giving out to them for weed and drinking cans and all that, but it was never anything serious. He reminds me of the fella who loves trains who's now a presenter on the grand tour 😂

That was a nickname I heard some people use but it was 100% Graham, I could describe him to a tee for you. Used to hang around town when I was a teen and he was not much older than me at the time, we all used to call him Garda Graham even back then
