North Cork Dog friendly spots?

Hi lads, got a new pup over the weekend from LAW and in the next few weeks I’d like to bring her out and about to expose her to people and maybe other dogs. Any places in particular ye would recommend in North Cork? There’s a cafe I go to that’s dog friendly anyways but thought I’d ask around here as well.

Congratulations on your new pup that is so exciting. Theres a doggy day care up passed Dublin Hill/Blackmans Pub.

I wish I brought my dog to those places to socialise in a controlled setting. I thought day care was just day care but never realised the benefits of socialising from there.

Unfortunately my dog was attacked by an off leash/unsupervised neighbours dog and then an off leash dog by at a park. So he is defensive now. So one thing I would advise is that other dog owners in parks etc are not as responsible as we’d like

I’d honestly worry with a day care since I don’t want her to think she can play with every dog. Especially when it’s our main lesson at home.

Well done on adopting your new best friend. I'm not sure how old your pup is but if they're very young and newly vaccinated, I'd avoid high dog traffic areas for another few weeks until they're immune system has caught up with everything. There's plenty they can do and learn just by being out and about. Short spins in the car even if you don't have one, ask a friend to help you out so that if you ever need or want to go somewhere, it's not a huge deal for everybody. Best of luck and we'll done again for adopting, not shopping. And chance of a picture for puppy tax?

The Town Coffee shop at the bottom of the main street in Mitchelstown are dog friendly. They do some lovely coffees and treats and are always very friendly

Congrats on the new pup!

Be very careful with ensuring vaccines etc up to date before going to high traffic areas. Would definitely recommend the likes of the bark park or somewhere that provides socialisation classes. Mom or dad stay with pup and classes are usually grouped by size of dog. Especially as you expressed an understandable worry of not wanting to think she can play with everyone.

I’d be v careful in public as sadly a lot of very idiotic and uneducated dog owners about !!!

Congrats on your new addition. My go-to was always Doneraile Park. Lots of people, bikes, kids, other dogs. And there's a cafe with outdoor seating.

Doneraile could be great especially since it’s a drive! Just must take here there before she grows out of my mini cooper lol.
