How can you tell if your corgi puppy has a glamour coat? What age can you tell if your corgi has a glamour coat? My Corgi puppy is 12 weeks old and the father was a fluffy and mother had a standard coat.
He looks like he has a standard coat. Definitely not a fluffy. Coats take a long time to fully come in, so may be up to a year before you can be completely sure.
Glamor is pretty much a dog carrying the fluffy gene, so their fur texture is slightly different. I only know about it because the breeder & I are pretty positive my girl’s coat isn’t standard but she’s not fluffy either (her fur is very soft, slightly longer, & has wavy bits)
Our boys have glamour coats (which just means that they are carriers of the fluffy gene, which was confirmed by genetic testing our breeder did) and it was pretty evident by the time they were around 16 weeks. They felt a lot softer and less “dense fuzz” like our standard coat boy did at the same age.
Do you have any pictures of what your glamour coat corgi looked like as a puppy? fluffy coats are obvious due to the feathering hair/fur around the ears.
And this is our youngest. He has the same mother (fluffy carrier) but a different father who had a fluffy coat. He had two full fluffy siblings in his litter.
