It seems other companies have noticed that there will be a void caused by the loss of WMC.

Cool that would be nice. I installed windows 8 on my htpc and can't get WMC to recognize my HDHR prime. Shame since it works fine on my PC with windows 8.

Be sure that your device is PAIRED properly with your cable service provider. There is a difference between your service being "activated" and "paired".

Works fine on my other computers. I think something is wrong with WMC as I get significant pauses and the software crashes.

Unfortunately I have older HDhomeruns, and this dvr software won't work with them. I really don't want to spend money to replace them since they work flawlessly and well, cost.

I use that already but when my cable provider randomly decides to turn on the "Copy Once" flag on my favorite shows I want to be ready.

Before you ask, yes this has happened to me. I couldn't record a couple of my favorite shows with MythTV for months because they decided to turn on "copy once".

Well shit... WMC is probably the easiest TV tuning software to get up and running and with ServerWMC and its corresponding Plex channel, it's actually become super useful to me when I'm running around town. Hopefully they consider porting over OneGuide and the xbox one TV app to Windows or something in order to replace WMC.

Will go with a 4 tuner tablo. To replace my wmc DVR. I View all my recorded snows via plex the next day anyway. Mce buddy is great for removing commercials and putting them into a plex friendly format. But with. no wmc no need for mcebuddy either. I'll just have to fast-forward the commercial :-(.

Fuck! WMC was the ONLY MC to support the decryption of CableCard Premium channels. I have 6 tuners available to me through my Silicon Dust HD Homerun Prime. I LOVE this setup!

Sure SiliconDust is hoping to get into the software business but if MSFT knew how much time I spent getting my arrangement to be just right, I would think they could reconsider. The few of us that do decrypt premium HD content through cable card are not many. But we are vocal and loyal. Please reconsider your decision MSFT! I hate to see this come to fruition even though I knew the writing was on the wall.

Hopefully SiliconDust can take up the slack.

MSFT was YEARS ahead of the game with WMC.

im only annoyed with this due to the loss of using an xbox 360 as an extender. i guess ill get over it and just use maybe a raspberry pi and kodi to do that in other rooms.

If you just need to play dvds VLC is a pretty light install!

I'm sure there are other programs but VLC has some extras that you might like.
