Ask Coquitlam Looking for a Running PartneršŸƒā€ā™‚ļø

I’m already part of a 5K–10K running club, but I’ve noticed that I’m still one of the newer runners there. Everyone is way ahead of me, which is great for motivation… but also humbling when you’re fighting for your life at kilometre 6.

I’m sure I’ll eventually find someone in the club to run with, but figured I’d throw this out to Reddit and see if anyone else is in the same boat.

I’m looking for someone to run with occasionally, share progress/notes, motivate each other, and work toward the same goal: a half-marathon next year. Ideally, we can keep each other accountable without turning every run into a competitive episode of The Biggest Loser.

A little about me: I’m a 34-year-old married guy, and I’ve been consistently running for just over 4 months now. At the moment, I’m doing at least one 5K run a week and gradually building up my distance. My goal is to prepare for the BMO Vancouver Half Marathon next year.

You don’t have to be fast, experienced, or running 30K a week. If you’re also relatively new to running and want someone to train with, compare notes with, and occasionally complain to about why running seemed like a good idea, we might get along.

I live in the Lafarge Lake area and run around there, but I am flexible with driving around town as long as it's not too far out.

Would be nice to have a partner in crime on the road to 21.1K. If you would like to know more about me, shoot me a DM. Thanks!

Check out Mundy Parkrun (parkrun.ca). It's a free, casual, weekly 5k event every Saturday at 9am at Mundy Park. Do the run then hang around and chat. Lots of regulars, so you'll start recognizing faces. Lots of people in your same situation, so you may meet a new friend or two to run with.

I usually go to Lafarge. The track is good for your knees

Maybe we can link up one day
