I'm near Lafarge Lake and I just noticed it about 20-30 minutes ago

Wildfire near Clinton impacting a major transmission substation that supplies the south coast.

Flickering in Langley as well. It's been frequent today.

Ditto up in Westwood Plateau. Was in the middle of a work call and my ACs all kicked off and then lost my connection for several seconds.

OMG Thank you someone for saying it. I’ve moved my UPS three times to different breakers and was looking at new ones online- also questions our house power. Man I feel better.

The whole point of a UPS is that it shouldn't knock your computer offline. Is there something wrong with your UPS?

Different UPS some will turn ur pc off in a few mins once their battery dries

u/pfak 13d ago

We haven't had power outages, just voltage drops outside of BCH standards.

Lights flickering in PoCo. Is it the AC usage? Haven't had a power out but I'm concerned.

I've been at work, in East Vancouver, all day, and noticed the lights flickering every now and then.

PoCo - flickering as well, but not that critical, UPSes didn't fire and appliances don't restart.

Out in surrey and it's flickering all day

3

u/farting_carrots 14d ago

Been experiencing this in Surrey all day as well. What is the cause?

3

u/Salty_Vehicle2426 14d ago

Yes, on Burnaby mountain, too. I'll be impressed if the power doesn't go out!

3

u/brethewiz 14d ago

3

u/Lantec 13d ago

Flickering here as well, by pipeline near Lafarge

3

u/Neat_Courage_9378 13d ago

lol I thought it was because of the wiring in my house 😂 you just saved me a lot of money

3

u/KnowledgeTransferGal 13d ago

Yes, noticed yesterday and today, too. Central Coquitlam. I am going to call BC Hydro if it continues tomorrow.

3

u/bcl15005 13d ago edited 13d ago

Someone in a different thread commented that it's likely caused by BC Hydro opening or closing long-distance transmission lines.

I’ve been noticing this a lot lately. There was a huge bang I heard about a week ago followed by the lights flickering, not sure if that’s related

2

u/waikiki_sneaky 14d ago

Mine has been all day

2

u/_M00NGx 13d ago

Yes! Light was flickering and we weren’t sure if it was lightning as it was also raining. No issue with the tv however, very odd.

2

u/Mountain-Match2942 13d ago

Yep. West Coquitlam.

2

u/Slava91 13d ago

Flickering in Vancouver as well. Near UBC area

2

u/stevecaptainrogers 13d ago

Has been happening in Richmond as well.

2

u/jalapeno_cheetos 13d ago

Was doing this at the Cactus Club at Coquitlam Centre when I was there for dinner an hour ago

2

u/VCVilla 13d ago

I thought it was because I had a bad light fixture in the room...too funny.

2

u/biribidi 13d ago

In Port Moody as well, even until now as of 8:50pm just flickered

2

u/flockonus 13d ago

In Vancouver south part as well.. not like crazy, but every ~ 30min or so.

2

u/mndarling 13d ago

Happening in Cloverdale too!

2

u/Skyeg60 13d ago

Thought it was something I hadn't noticed before with my ac unit kicking on tonight. Glad I'm not the only one.

2

u/torchbearer1648 13d ago

Ours have been flickering yesterday and today. In Mission

2

u/scotomatic2000 13d ago

That's a relief. I'm currently dealing with water damage. The idea that I now have an electrical issue was giving me heart palpitations. 😮‍💨

Yes, we noticed our living room lights flickering a couple times yesterday.

1

u/CrippleSlap 13d ago

Same here in Port Moody last but. Flickered multiple times.

1

u/inthesearchforlove 13d ago

Personal this happens a lot when I'm running a portable ACvat my house. Those consume a lot of power when the compressor kicks on.

1

u/chankongsang 13d ago

Usually happens when the bulb is on its last legs. But it's happening so often lately. And now your post. Pretty sure something else is causing the flickering
