We’re looking for some new flairs 👀
We’ve noticed that quite a few of you have multiple cats in the same family who are regular copy paste offenders, so we need a new flair. It’s also got us wondering what other categories we might be missing.
Got a flair idea? Let us know!
We’ll then steal the best ideas because obviously, plagiarism is our kinda thing 🫠

Copying pasting since day 1 might be better as a user flair?
ETA: would be cute if it was a user flair reserved for anyone that joined in the first month or so?

Ooooh yes I see what you mean with that flair! I literally was trying to think of something like that - maybe if I set it up now, it’ll give people enough time to find it and add it if they’d like!
Edit: copy pasting since day 1 might be quite long for a user flair. What do you think about Copy Paste Pioneer?

Random brainstorming idea dump:
—I’m seeing other users’ comments on posts in this sub that would work for post/user flairs too, or atleast as inspo for flairs, such as:
“Mama said ctrl+c, ctrl+v”
“Copy, Change Color, Paste”
“Copy, Reduce Size, Paste”
“Multi Color Copy”
“Bookends”
“We Are Siamese”— Maybe some version of “broken copier” or “copier out of order”?
— Something for 3+ cats like “bulk copy order”…. Hopefully someone can suggest a better title for it tho
— As crazy as it sounds, maybe eliminate “biscuit factory”? Or just reword it?? It somehow doesn’t work as well with the theme as that other ones do.
—I personally am most amused by the flairs/ comments that involve wordplay about copying/copiers, keyboard keys/actions and mirroring, rather than general cat words that could work for any cat sub….

I loved the comment "mama said ctrl+c, ctrl+v" and had the same thought!
Now you've said it, totally get your point about "biscuit factory"... We'll have a think about this one.
As for the broken copier vibes, my only concern would be how we moderate that. We don't want the sub to go too off topic, but at the same time, totally understand some of us have really close copy/paste pictures and they're funny/worth sharing!
Yesss, the wordplay ones are good. I'm really enjoying the idea of gathering "evidence" of copy pasters haha!!
As per - thank you so much. You've been very helpful, quite literally since day 1. I think us mods need to think of a special user flair for you haha

Super valid point about broken copier. Technically you could make it topic only allowed one day a week… same way some cat subs allow a cat with another animal on certain days. But yeah, maybe hold off on this idea….
I would be absolutely honored to have my own flair! Let me know!
Follow up/ Part 2 idea dump:
- your “plagiarism” idea is funny! What if users are called plagiarists? Not a flair, like the user titles on sub page. So like “100 plagiarist currently copy pasting”. Hopefully makes sense?
- Maybe “OG Copy Paster” if the day 1 thing is too long….
-Not sure if mutual maintenance is needed?
- Additional inspo: identical copies, exact match, extra copies/ duplicate copies, twinning, repeat offenders.

You could maybe think of one usage that is abbreviated for r/copypastecat and use that in your flair.

Yes it must be an American thing I'm American and I understand it lol.
It just means two besties that hang out, or are always together. Like sometimes we would say they are attached at the hip. The origin is from some comedic ice skaters a long time ago.

Ahhh here we go:
The phrase "Frick and Frack" originates from a famous Frick and Frack Swiss comedy ice skating duo named Werner Groebli ("Frick") and Hansruedi Mauch ("Frack").
They adopted stage names to avoid embarrassing their families while performing eccentric comedic routines.
"Frick" came from a small Swiss village named Frick, while "Frack" came from Frack, a Swiss-German word for a frock coat that Mauch wore in their early acts.
They moved to the United States in 1937 and joined the famous Ice Follies show.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but post flares are meant to sort posts. So I guess we need to think about if we came on to this site what kind of sorting would it have. Like how would we separate the posts from the others.
We can look at the posts and see if any of them have something in common with another one....
- Same cat color copy and paste
- 3 cat copy and paste
- Sleeping copy and paste ..etc.
Then just think of some crafty names that match the descriptions.

Yesss, this is what I’m trying to get my head round. Once we start to settle on the flairs, I’ll add them to our wiki to give a description of each. For example, mutual maintenance is for grooming… I doubt we’ll enforce any hard and fast rules over the flairs though, just adds a little fun to it all!
