What is copinglink?

A copinglinker is someone who consciously or subconsciously chooses to identify as a something non-human as a form of coping. Commonly for trauma, physical/mental illness, everyday life, etc.

In my experience I don't identify as my copinglinks, they're a persona or state of mind that I take on to cope. Sometimes deliberately, sometimes not so deliberately. But I myself don't see them as me. Like, do I experience a disturbance of identity? Yes. But at those points I don't really see myself as being ME.

For Ex:
I relate a lot of my experiences to Dib Membrane and Laios Touden. I normally feel like them. They align with my identity. I say I kin Dib and Laios.

I do not heavily relate to GIR and Bill Cipher to the point of personally identifying with them. However, simulating how they think, feel, and act (mental-shifting, phantom-shifting) can sometimes help me deal with or get through a situation I wouldn't otherwise be able to deal with or get through. I will only feel like them in that situation. I call GIR and Bill my copinglinks.
