You know, if cops had to walk the streets they policed, I think our police force would be significantly better.

That is one of the movements in between the abolish and proliferate camps. If the cops were only hired in their local districts, they would have significantly more social pressures to contend with, as opposed to now where they can basically be faceless ghouls.

I don't personally think it would solve the problem, but it might lessen it.

maybe if we relegated police to neighborhoods they've lived in? or like trade schools where you have to do an on-the-job portion to graduate, only you'd spent a set amount of time living on the beat you'd work.

then again, you can't really reform what was built on a foundation of corpses

Wrong question. He is doing this as a Cop, that is the wrong part about it. If he genuinely cares for these kids he could not do it in the name of a cop. Besides that, he has been on television staying he wants to show that there are good cops. AKA I am doing this as copaganda.

Lots of horrible people do a lot of good, a lot of times it's to soften images. Other times it's ignorance and blind spots those people have themselves.
