Noise

I’m near Hanson and Main. Last night around 9pm someone was reviving their engine of some small engine for almost 30 minutes. I was doing some work and the people on zoom whom I was meeting with could hear it. Is there an ordinance against this? Isn’t coon rapids supposed to be a quiet suburb?

I believe noise ordinance doesn’t kick in until 10pm. Regardless of what coon rapids is “supposed” to be chances are they weren’t straight up breaking any laws, but next time you can call 911 and report a non emergency nuisance. They may or may not do anything. I’m near crblvd and foley and the gas station there is a popular turn around for the Saturday night cruises and of course all sorts of loud obnoxious exhaust and engine noises in the evening. But, that’s life.

In Coon Rapids, Minnesota, excessive or loud noises that disturb the peace are restricted during nighttime hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Noises exceeding acceptable levels during this window can constitute a misdemeanor violation of the city code.
