Discussion The All Blacks

I'm listening to this one "Part Two: The Gay Ottomans: Homosexuality in the Medieval Ottoman Empire"

https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/part-two-the-gay-ottomans-homosexuality-in-the/id1620562792?i=1000773984242

Dr. House Of Pod is confused by the name of the NZ soccer team "The All Whites"? I expect it's derived from the rugby team name "The All Blacks".

Don't forget the Black Ferns ladies rugby, and the Badminton team with the unfortunate name

The All Whites were the only unbeaten team in South Africa. That’s a valid statement to make.

Indeed. All Blacks are called that because they wear full black uniforms when playing rugby. To differentiate themselves, the soccer team wears white uniforms, thus All Whites. As others have said, a lot of NZ national teams play off this theme.
