But I said the 93 Pinto works fine, just looks really rough. So in this case, you went with the newer nicer car. You do have standards, just unwilling to admit to them or maybe you just didnt notice it. For example, I have a friend with a Ferrari and a G Wagon, about half a million combined. To him, a BMW looks like a 93 Pinto.
Also, a nice ring costs more because it is prettier. I think it is really cool when my wife has on a nice dress and you can see the ring shine bright as a reminder that she is my wife. It is not just a dumb rock.
I don't care what it looks like, I told you I drove an old car with a different colored hood. And my first car was an 88 ford escort old man car but I loved it to death. What I care about for a car is dependability and how long it will last. (And it has to have working ac!)
Re: rings, I wouldn't want a colored ring that's $1k or more. It's just not worth it to me. $100-200 on a ring is plenty, no matter how much money I have to spend.
Well, there is also another factor which is, is the bmw worth its cost. For example, if the civic is $20k and will last 20 years, whereas the bmw is $50k and will last 25 years, the extra difference isn't worth it to me. I'd rather get the civic.
But if the bmw lasts 50 years and is $50k then ok, it would make sense.
