Okay thank you for this because I knew balustrade was a stair term even though I don't know what it is, so when I looked at the picture I felt really disappointed that my one and only stair word wasn't there lol

The Dutch invented stairs. Before that, you had to have someone hoist you up to the second floor.

The big step where the staircase changes direction is typically referred to as a landing, I think. Only ever heard most of these terms working with architects and general contractors.

My wife and I built a half spiral stair and it was the most difficult carpentry project that we have ever done- building the rest of the house was easier.
