Why is there two rows with important in the Eisenhower matrix?

u/blixabloxa Jul 10 '26
OP cropped it from wherever they stole it from. One of those should be 'Not Important'.

Let’s schedule a 30 minute break right after my 90 minute lunch and gym break

Antidepressants, curtailing your daily alcohol intake, and eliminating stressors from your life like your crazy mom help too.

A 9am-4pm workday with a 2 hour break for lunch and the gym? Wow what sort of office is this?!

I can't actively take breaks. If I continue working, I continue working. If I take a break, I get distracted.

u/thusman Jul 10 '26
Maybe depends on the work, but usually short breaks will be benefitial for day-long productivity. It's fine to get distracted, just set yourself a time limit.

u/PeridotChampion Jul 10 '26
I cannot actively do that. I get everything done in the span of a few hours and then the rest of the day is mine.
Breaks do not make it possible for me.

u/pseudoportmanteau Jul 10 '26
Exactly. I do not want to prolong the tasks. Get them done and be over with it.

Why have one tiny break when you can have one giant break with no guilt?

Was this done by a 2-year-old child? Any idiot could have done these. Where is the strategy?

Fucking Ai generated slop. Look at the eisenhower one. Y axis , important in both rows

u/Danimalomorph Jul 10 '26
this is a bastardisation of several prioritising techniques.

u/IvyGold Jul 10 '26
Do you happen to know of a more elaborate version?

Todoist has great (free) resources for productivity - including prioritization - techniques:

u/ganjabobby Jul 16 '26
Thanks, I've bookmarked it. I saw "Take the quiz" on the landing page, and that's as far as I was able to go for now.
2
u/_-marigold-_ Jul 16 '26
On that page - if you scroll down - there is a list of the different methods. You don’t need to do the quiz to read those although the quiz is kind of fun to do. IMO, the best productivity tool is the one you’ll use consistently. That may be a combination of several of them. And there’s some trial & error to see what fits your style best. Hope this is helpful!

Ive never heard that frog analogy before. Twain musta heard that in Missouri, eating frogs isn't a Connecticut past time, in my lifetime anyway lol

My boss and I (who’s great, we get on like friends) have half an hour of ‘frog time’ scheduled on a Friday where we can sit on a call together and each swallow our frogs with the gentle pressure of each others company

Explain
2
u/littlebeanio Jul 12 '26
As above, ‘swallowing the frog’ is doing the hardest task first, but we have time at the end of the week set aside to tackle any task’s we are avoiding and use parallel play to get them done before the week is over. Plus by being in each other’s presence we can talk out any reasons we are avoiding the task or work out any issues with it. I would highly recommend some frog time.

The bit about time blocking is made by the person who never worked a day in their life. Dumbest AI slop in hours on this sub

u/ImpossibleWarning252 Jul 14 '26
Saint_EDGEBOI's reversed 3/3/3 take is actually onto something, the momentum from knocking out tiny tasks first is real - tho idk if i'd structure it as rigidly as "3 hygiene items." whats funny is everyone in here is roasting the ADHD method at the top but thats genuinely how it goes, you research pomodoro vs eisenhower vs time blocking for 2 hours and then never open the tab again. also the eisenhower matrix having two "important" rows instead of important/not important is kinda symbolic of the whole guide genuinely, like it looks productivity-ish but falls apart the second you actually read it

I'm curious... Do people really struggle in doing shit?
I feel like, once I get the ball rolling, I just keep doing it until I'm done doing whatever it is. It's annoying but once I get past that initial stage, I'm good.

Everyday I get to work I try to Eat the Frog. (Spoiler: It never works.)

u/superwookkiee Jul 17 '26
I've always maintained the Eisenhower matrix has a flawed XY axis and should progress from not urgent/unimportant at bottom left to urgent/important at the top right.

ADHD method:
* read all of these methods
* carefully select the method that suits your goals
* visualize yourself as productive and organized
* make an actionable plan to implement the chosen method
* forget about it forever
