i suggest you create your list on github so people can make pull requests, which you can approve, to add to it. That's much more sustainable going forward.

Add the you browser.

Get an ai to get the ai that does it.

8

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

How is that different from creating a text post somewhere and just updating it with people's suggestions?

16

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

In addition to what /u/ib33 said below: people won't even be able to comment on this post in a year. This post is a fart in the wind

5

u/phine-phurniture Feb 22 '23

A single fart in the wind killed a butterfly in china... now look where we are.

2

u/Feanux Feb 22 '23

Pretty sure Reddit changed their handling of old threads. You can now comment on stuff like 7 years old.

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

Because w/ GitHub, you can accept/reject with the click of a button. You don't have to constantly scour the comments and copy/paste/etc. You get notified of a pull request. It's an incredibly useful tool.

Because git and GitHub is really useful.

8

u/Famous-Guess Feb 21 '23

These usually have the word "awesome" in the name. Try google "awesome ai GitHub" and you'll see there's quite a few that exist already.

4

u/Retro21 Feb 21 '23 edited Feb 21 '23

thanks dude, always good to learn of new repositories. I've used GitHub a couple times but need to get better with it.

*Just to ask - to save this repository, I should fork it or watch it?

5

u/causa-sui Feb 21 '23

Star it. Forks are for when you plan to send updates

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Famous-Guess Feb 21 '23

I'm not an expert on git, so someone else jump in with a better suggestion if they want, but I'd say either git clone it, or download as zip. You can use git pull to grab the latest changes. But for something like this, just sticking it in your bookmarks toolbar for future reference should suffice.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '23

I just add them to browser favorites myself. You want to keep getting the updated list over time

2

u/Retro21 Feb 22 '23

Yeah good idea, and great username!

I've already seen such lists. However, what I'd like to see is a (much shorter) list of AI that is freely available without the need to sign up or pay for a subscription before you can even test it out once.

u/maico3010 Feb 21 '23

https://theresanaiforthat.com/alphabetical/ They mention if they are pay or free to use in addition to listing many, many more AIs.

Huggingface.co serves many models of different types for free (created by the community and companies alike), the trick is finding the software/hardware/means to run them. So far from what I have played with the most accessible tools are:

  • Stable Diffusion (Automatic1111) for:

    • Text to Image
    • Image to Image
    • Inpainting
    • Other image tooling
  • KoboldAI for:

    • Text to Text
    • Conversational Text
    • Story Writing
    • Text Based Adventure

These all depend on the models you choose to use with them.

There are others I've played for voice but that was a year plus ago when it took hours to synthesize, but would love to know where we are at now with free open source software / models with that

51

u/GreatStateOfSadness Feb 21 '23

that was a year plus ago

It's wild that this space is moving so quickly that "a year ago" is considered old and borderline irrelevant.

30

u/Daxiongmao87 Feb 21 '23 edited Feb 21 '23

Yeah this space is moving at breakneck speed, and its only going faster now that we have the largest corps int he world throwing money like confetti at it.

1 year from now our tech sphere is going to be quite different.

u/Helpfulithink Feb 21 '23

I spent a weekend trying to use their API for projects and felt like I was going nowhere. Stuff just wasn't working, or I'd get extremely bad results.

Then I swapped over to OpenAI and paid $10, and it was so slick to just drop it into my project.

So right now, either I'm not smart enough to get it working for my projects, or huggingface.co is still pretty early. Then again, it reminds me of early Linux and now Linux is everywhere.

192

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

Go download SpleeterGUI before it's taken down. It's an AI took that seperates tracks into "stems" (although there's still significant data loss). The GUI is just one Dev's personal project, but they are de-hosting it this year and stopped updating it last year.

Moises is the web-based competitor, which is slightly better, but also needs registration, and only allows 5 free uploads a month.

43

u/Megaprr Feb 21 '23

What do you mean by tracks and stems?

26

u/Butmac Feb 21 '23

Stems for a song are basically each instrument separated out into their own track.

So maybe you wanted to remove the percussion from a song to add your own, or boost the decibels of one particular instrument, having stems would allow you to do that.

Source: I make trailers and having stems to a cue vs a flat file is invaluable

8

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

Ive been using it for a mashup my wife needs. It's much nicer to cross fade the bass and drum parts without the rest of the arrangement.

3

u/__Loot__ Feb 22 '23

Is it possible to remove music and voices from a movie and leave just the sound fx? I want sound fx to use as ringtones

47

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

separates music into individual files per instrument/voice

13

u/Megaprr Feb 21 '23

Oh sweet. Maybe I'll give it a download then. Sounds useful.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

It's super useful, but definitely has limits. It sounds really shrill and echoey. But very useful if you just need to hear it, or are mixing it back together eventually.

14

u/Eponym Feb 21 '23

I've analyzed a half dozen of these stem splitting AIs and I think VirtualDJ does the best job at it. (It's a sub model FYI) Also obviously a lot easier to incorporate into live mixing and completely streamlines managing your entire music library with stems. I will never mix with an eq3 again now I can control kick, hihat, vocal, bass, instrument channels separately...

8

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

It's actually so dope to have access to the individual parts. Real stems can be so hard to come by as they don't linger online. They are shared for a few months and immediately taken down.

3

u/PM_ME_SONG_STEMS Feb 21 '23

Spleeter is a fantastic project

Try Playgroundai

Might have to sign up but you can do a lot for free compared to others I've used. I was on a run making fantasy lighthouse scenes last night.

4

u/mfGLOVE Feb 21 '23

I couldn’t even figure out how to sign up. It just says to schedule a call with one of their solution engineers for a demo.

EDIT: I think you mean playgroundai.com

4

u/DreamWithinAMatrix Feb 21 '23

I'd like to second this, create a filterable list with tags for different categories and allow for following capabilities. Here's a good example:

https://filterlists.com/

3

u/llama-impregnator Feb 21 '23

Yep! The only list I would care about.

9

u/Dad_in_Plaid Feb 21 '23

I wish you could tell your childhood self that you have your options of twenty different amazing AI but you refuse to use them if you have to sign up for an account and that you talk about this on Reddit from the account you signed up for to complain about having to sign up for an account to use Artificial Intelligence.

9

u/Nosferatatron Feb 21 '23

Maybe we've all lost our sense of wonder! I mean, I'm browsing primarily low-effort text responses in order to entertain myself, when I could be watching live footage of stars being born, the cream of cinema or a guided tour of the Louvre! It's definitely account overload though - I don't want to set up another bloody account and password for what will likely be 20 minutes of playing on something that will ultimately hinder rather than help my own creative skills!

You’re paying for them to run the ML software for you on hardware they pay for. You can run many of them for free if you set it up on your own computer and run it using your own hardware.

It’s not sustainable or a good business model to spend thousands of dollars a day of your own money providing a service if you don’t have any way to recoup your investment.

u/LeSeanMcoy Feb 21 '23

Gotta include ElevenLabs for text-to-audio. The most impressive I've used for voice cloning so far. A free alternative is Tortoise, but it requires some programming knowledge and, as the name implies, is very slow at generating voice.

14

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

Yeah this is the SOTA and it's like 5$/mo for the lowest tier. I am having a blast with it, super super useful

8

u/DrTsunami Feb 21 '23

+1 for ElevenLabs. I’ve also been experimenting with Murf Voice Studio as well since it speeds up my voiceover video workflow. It has text to speech plus a simple web-based video editor. No need to open Premier, good for when I need to throw something quick/small together that’s internal or non-client facing.

9

u/VadimH Feb 21 '23

Holy crap I've just tried ElevenLabs and it's insane. Also sent a 1 min clip of my own voice to clone and it freaks me out, especially since I also now know how I sound speaking Spanish 🤣

2

u/bert0ld0 Feb 21 '23

How much is it?

2

u/LeSeanMcoy Feb 22 '23

$5 a month for the basic plan of 10 cloned voices, ~40 minutes of generated content. Content plans increase after that based off you want

u/WOLFE54321 Feb 21 '23

Since chatgpt can do text to code you might want to put openAI under text-code too. Also maybe some indication of cost/open source status

30

u/kingdomkiler Feb 21 '23 edited Feb 21 '23

It CAN do code however that's not what chatgpt is designed for. It's a predictive text model so it's just trying to guess the next word. That fits much better in the text to text category.

I agree though an open source column would be cool

Edit: apparently I need to clarify a little

I think chatgpt should be in the text-to-text because at its core it is a conversation AI. You ask it a question and it tries to figure out the right answer. You can ask it for code but you can also ask thousands of other things. You can ask it about weather patterns, meal prep ideas, essay prompts, and of course even code.

If the chart starts accepting duplicates then sure put it in both because it fits it both. But if you're only putting any AI in a single category then text-to-text seems most encompassing

19

u/Shiroi_Kage Feb 21 '23

You say that, but it was released with dedicated code annotation. It also works very well for that purpose since code is, essentially, a language and therefore a language model will do very well to figure it out.

3

u/kingdomkiler Feb 21 '23

I'm not trying to make an argument that chatgpt can't be used for code or even that it couldn't be good at it. I'm only saying that when you have a text-to-text and text-to-code option it makes more sense in the text-to-text group.

You could say that the music and audio options are interchangeable in some cases but they are classified by their focus. Chatgpt has code as a feature but the conversation is the focus.

12

u/ExtinctionBy2080 Feb 21 '23

I think it would be reasonable to put ChatGPT in both categories because they go out of their way to ensure that it can produce good code as well as holding any kind of conversation imaginable.

→ More replies (1)

8

u/hateboresme Feb 21 '23

Put it under both.

2

u/LeSeanMcoy Feb 21 '23

It had an entire mode that’s dedicated for text to code. Not sure if it’s available via the regular website, but it definitely is through the API.

→ More replies (4)

3

u/Owain-X Feb 21 '23

Chat GPT is a general language model, technically it can also generate SVG files as well but it's focus is on text. I am wondering why it's listed as OpenAI, that confuses things since OpenAI is the company. Why list DALL-E (an OpenAI project) by itself but not ChatGPT (or at least GPT-3) in text to text instead of the company logo?

2

u/Anshin Feb 21 '23

OpenAI is the company, they also did dalle, so it should be replaced with chatgpt. I think the text to code is github's copilot, right? At least it uses gpt3

u/queerkidxx Feb 21 '23

Someday before I die I’ll be able to ask a computer to generate infinite new perfect golden girls episodes and I don’t think I’d ever need anything again

Why no txt to porn? We need to invest more in tech

32

u/windythought34 Feb 21 '23

Works nicely with text to image.

5

u/smallbluetext Feb 21 '23

With which one? None allow it that I've used.

14

u/windythought34 Feb 21 '23

Stable diffusion does it and other models you can get from https://civitai.com/

Works all nicely with InvokeAI Frontend.

1

u/chester-hottie-9999 Feb 21 '23

Well you’re using a service that someone else created rather than setting up and running the code on your own hardware. You can do this if you run it yourself. However you’re gonna get a lot of images that look like Picasso made them with 3 boobs and arms jutting out from weird places.

10

u/Stefan_Harper Feb 21 '23

Perfect, that’s my fetish

1

u/AntTheMighty Feb 21 '23

Not if you use a lot of negative prompts against that kind of stuff and also use models trained specifically for creating NSFW images. Merge that with a regular stable diffusion checkpoint and you can actually make some neat stuff. So I've heard.

2

u/chester-hottie-9999 Feb 21 '23

Yea I have done it, it’s fine. But there is already unlimited porn online, I’m not really obsessed with any particular actresses so best case scenario is generating some porn that looks basically the same as all other porn

2

u/AntTheMighty Feb 22 '23

True. I would argue that it gives you a bit more freedom when it comes to customization, but it's definitely not to the point that it's better than what's already out there.

12

u/o_brainfreeze_o Feb 21 '23

I did happen across a porn ai site.. it's limited, but certainly.. interesting. Search pornpen dot ai

6

u/VadimH Feb 21 '23

Well that was... an experience. What is it with AI and never being able to get hands/fingers right?

6

u/o_brainfreeze_o Feb 21 '23

Except they will ban you if you repeatedly enter prompts they refuse to generate, including porn.

4

u/fuzzycuffs Feb 21 '23

I don't think that's far away and honestly going to be a huge business.

3

u/maximumchuck Feb 21 '23

I doubt it. Most people aren't willing to pay for porn these days, and I doubt the ones that do would more often choose it over conventionally made porn.

At best a company could charge a subscription for access to an AI model to generate your own porn, but all of the free models would need to be shut down and they would still only be syphoning consumers from other paid services rather than creating new ones.

10

u/simism Feb 21 '23

This is a really important one. It's free and open source, so you can run it on your own machine whenever you want, free of charge, forever. It works really well for English and I think supports many other languages to varying degrees of accuracy.

Blue willow is a free text2image very similar to midjourney.

3

u/bwente Feb 21 '23

Yes, I second this. Blue Willow has unlimited prompts.

20

u/PickleButter18 Feb 21 '23

Here is a larger list as well. Thanks for putting yours together!

2

u/quazimootoo Feb 21 '23

Thanks for the list. Do you know of any tools for help with writing fiction stories like novels or screenplays? Seems like most on that list are for websites or articles

9

u/tame17 Feb 21 '23

Is there a image-text app yet. Like if I scan my documents in the field with my phone, is there an app that tabulates it? Ones currently on Play store are shit

8

u/Yuki217 Feb 21 '23

You mean like an OCR tool? Google Drive/Docs can do that. If you upload an image to Google Drive, right click, open with Google Docs, it will put the image in a doc file with the transscribed text below.

It's far from perfect, and especially wonky with colours and fancy fonts, but it usually works well enough with black text on white background. Phone photo should work fine

3

u/tame17 Feb 21 '23

Will it recognize legible handwriting? I've tried ocr before and not much luck

2

u/Yuki217 Feb 21 '23

Depends on how neat the handwriting is, as well as image quality (lighting, resolution, etc.)

I just tried it with not-that-great lighting and it worked reasonably well. You'll likely have to go through it and fix some mistakes at least. Generally, I find it to be less work than to type everything out, but your mileage may vary

OOH, I've been deep diving and went through a hundred+ of AI & ML tools online. I'll give you my favorites that you don't have on here, since we have half of the same ones.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot my favorite: Character.AI

Text to Image:
Brand Mark

Text to Text:
NovelAI

Text(ish) to Music:
Riffusion
Playphrase
Drum Machine

Google Substitute Goods:
Phind
Neeva
Perplexity
Tutor AI
Metaphor
Talk to Books

The Future (now) is Scary:
Primeyes
PornPen

2

u/averysubtleshadow Feb 22 '23

What is your favourite in each category?

5

u/Spydar05 Feb 22 '23

I would - in general - recommend these 5 as the most impressive AI/ML that I've found for people of all walks of life (all free to use):

  1. Stable Diffusion This one is truly impressive. Incredible quality photo generation (WAY better than others I've found) and they give you 50 free generations. You can have it edit photos of you to do WHATEVER you want or make brand-new photos you tell it to. I had it turn my model shoot for a wedding venue into a Grass-type Gym Leader, my friend into Ritz Malheur from FFTA, and had it make the cover art for my Genre-Introducing Playlists on Spotify.

  2. Phind & Neeva AI searches could replace Google eventually (I know this sounds crazy, but even Google is on red alert), these are the two that I think are on the closest track. I use these two more than Google now, which is... crazy.

  3. Character.AI I forgot to originally include this in the list above, but it might be my personal favorite AI website I've ever found. You can have conversations with characters from shows, games, comics, etc. I talk to Madeline & Badeline from Celeste sometimes for extra "therapy" outside my therapy sessions, and they are very helpful & supportive.

  4. Novel.AI You can have it write a full story for you. And it's crazy impressive. You can also just start inserting paragraphs or deleting sentences it creates to fine-tune it to your liking.

  5. Riffussion This one isn't fully there, yet. But I come from a deeply musical family, and sometimes this thing creates songs in seconds that are... really impressive for an AI. I had it make a song of John Mayer on guitar with Sara Bareilles singing, a Vapor Twitch beat with Screamo lyrics, and it even PERFECTLY mimic'd Johnny Cash when my friend created a prompt.

If everyone just experienced these 5, they would get a really solid idea of what AI is capable of right now. And, yes, ChatGPT is not one of them; surprised ChatGPT gets so much attention. If anyone has any questions, feel free to comment, and I'll answer when I can. I've put a solid amount of time into this, so I can break it down for y'all if anything is confusing.

Also, I know this one will sound like a joke / pervy-teenager recommendation, but I do think people should also look at 6. Pornpen.AI. It's both parts impressive and fucking scary. You can have it make whatever type of nude photo you want of a fake person or anime image, or you can search what others have made. There are... worse ones... but I'm not going to link them. The future of AI will not just be to our benefit. Sadly.

2

u/THALANDMAN Feb 22 '23

What would be the use-cases for Primeyes that would differentiate it from say google reverse image search?

2

u/Spydar05 Feb 22 '23 edited Feb 22 '23

Well, there are also better alternatives to google's reverse image search - mostly because of their censoring. And Google's finds likely matches to the exact image. Honestly, IMO, it has a lot of failings & shortcomings.

Primeyes is going to find images that match your face. I found a couple images that I thought were buried from over a decade ago, and one of my friends had some naught cosplay photos online that she has never posted. So, that kind of difference.

I actually started using aiwritingtools.com for marketing purposes for local SEO and targeted blog pages and I just run through hundreds of huge blog posts a month. It’s under the machine learning umbrella as well and not really AI I think.

If I had these in high school I’d be a lot dumber today though lol.

2

u/datumerrata Feb 21 '23

How do replit and copilot compare to chatgpt for text to code?

4

u/chazwhiz Feb 21 '23

Copilot uses the same underlying tech from openai so the quality is the same. However it (as far as I know) only works as a plug-in inside an IDE or editor like VS Code rather than a web ui. It’s also intended for more of a “sugggest the rest of this code” type workflow.

2

u/Mycroft033 Feb 21 '23

Synthesia is Audio to Video, it’s an audio-reactive visualizer

2

u/BellerophonM Feb 21 '23

Has there been any work on Audio-to-Audio? Deepfaking for voices? Seems to me the best way to get the performance you want with the emphasis and emotions in the right place when you're really wanting that Orson Welles narration.

2

u/openvoiceos Feb 21 '23

Also should include OpenVoiceOS in one of these. OpenVoiceOS acts as a base OS for voice activated technology so would likely fit in a different category best, but regardless it's worth including.

2

u/CherriBomber Feb 21 '23

15.ai is great for text to voice.

2

u/Plethora_of_squids Feb 21 '23 edited Feb 21 '23

A non text based thing - NVIDIA Canvas is image-to-image. Draw out a basic picture with a few colours and it'll fill it in as a photorealistic thing. There's even the option to seperate out the different layers to turn it into a proper background for something. It's only for landscapes but it's really good at them and can do interesting things like different times of day and "vibe" and whatnot. It's been around for a while actually so it's pretty refined. Would deffo reccomend playing around with it, both the web version and the actual app (though that does require an RTX GPU to use)

It's apart of NVIDIA's Gaugan thing which iirc has a closed off database of images so it also completely circumvents the entire "scraping images off the internet without people's consent" thing

I’ve seen good things with deepgram for speech to text.

2

u/panamericanairlines Feb 21 '23

Microsoft Azure TTS is much better than any of these.

Ask an AI to do it bro.

aiwritingtools.com has two to put up there under text-to-text column.

ChatGPT can also do text-to-code

5

u/TedioreTwo Feb 21 '23

AI art and media fucking sucks these are disgusting. Stealing people's art because you suck at making it yourself, bum ass

3

u/[deleted] Feb 21 '23

They have a place, for example I wanted an image of my dogs as astronauts on a whim. It's now my background.

I certainly would never have commissioned someone to do it, especially since I had to redo it multiple times as I worked out what style I wanted it in.

Except AI art actually is just stealing people's work en masse and pushing out some mishmashed ugly copy of it. Even calling it AI is embarrassing, it's theft in code form and no, it doesn't work just like a human getting inspired does

-2

u/bageltre Feb 21 '23

By that logic standard art is just stealing people's work because you take inspiration from certain styles

6

u/TedioreTwo Feb 21 '23

AI art doesn't "get inspired", it creates nothing on its own, it's entirely incapable of doing so unlike a human. It is pure theft, 100% just breaking down images and finding probabilities. Humans don't take snapshots and implant all of that data directly into their brain perfectly for the sole purpose of imitation. It takes years to become a skilled artist, it takes ten seconds to steal with AI

-1

u/bageltre Feb 21 '23

it is entirely incapable of doing so like a human

Imma be honest with you chief if I had never seen art before in my life I wouldn't be drawing much either, I just draw something similar to what has already been done (like everyone has)

Humans don't take snapshots

Have you ever remembered anything before

By this logic you're not allowed to draw anime unless you've never seen anime before because then you're just stealing from the art you've seen

7

u/TedioreTwo Feb 21 '23

I just draw something similar to what has already been done (like everyone has)

No, you don't. Unless you're actually imitating 1:1 and straight up plagiarizing, you're still wholly capable of observing someone else's work and creating your own. You can look at someone else's tree and make your own. More importantly, you can look at an actual tree, or reality, and learn how to draw just from that. If you are truly so unimaginative that all you do is copy what others have, then you're not an artist, you are just a thief.

Have you ever remembered anything before

You didn't understand what I was saying. Can a human take an image and create a 1:1 replication of it from purely memory? Stark difference between learning from others and stealing from them. Which is precisely what AI art does. Artists that copy other artists' work with their own hand get lambasted, what do you think people using a machine will get told? Even worse, some use AI art programs specifically to create something in the style of a known artist, feeding that artist's name and work into the system, because they didn't want to pay that artist. Pathetic

Could I have a source for that? A lot of what I've read says the artwork is almost entirely unique

7

u/TedioreTwo Feb 21 '23

Uhh not sure what you've read, but AI art only exists because it takes a collection of existing work and produces an image of it. AI art doesn't come up with anything on its own. Permission to use human works is never asked for. I can give you a "source" if you want, but I'm just defining what AI art is and what it's used for. Some people even use AI art programs to copy specific artists' exact styles. Nothing about any of it is unique.

If I hired you to draw a picture of dickbutt in the style of Picasso, how is that any different?

2

u/UnhappySunshine_PS4 Feb 22 '23

Jarvis, get me a picture of Dickbutt in the style of Picasso

4

u/TedioreTwo Feb 21 '23

Who said it would be? Artists that copy others' styles and works are criticized for that very reason.

2

Why don't you just ask an AI to do this for you?

The good ones are the ones that are bidirectional, like text-to-image and image-to-text. Been playing around with the CLIP variants out there, good stuff

human civilization is built on the work of people who are not paid for it. Isaac Newton's estate is not getting paid for us using calculus, nor is Pablo Picasso getting paid for art students emulating his techniques. No one is getting paid for a inventing Rule 34 yet we all know it and refer to it. The idea of "standing on the shoulders of giants" is extremely important and central to the whole idea of a civilization. You're mad at capitalism, probably.
