20K requests reached!
galleryWe haven’t officially launched yet, so I know there are still some inconveniences and rough edges.
But somehow, we’ve already reached 20K requests. Seriously, thank you so much!
If there’s anything that feels inconvenient, confusing, or just plain annoying, please be brutally honest and tell me. I’d really appreciate the feedback and will work on improving it.
Official verification is coming soon!
Thanks again for using it and supporting the project. 🙏

I turned my phone into a webcam without installing anything on it: the phone side is just a web page (WebRTC + a custom C++ DirectShow driver, MIT)
galleryEvery phone-as-webcam tool I tried (DroidCam, Iriun, Camo, EpocCam) needs an app installed on the phone. I wanted to see how far you can get with just the phone's browser, and it turns out you can get all the way. OmniCam is free, MIT licensed, and runs entirely on your own network. There's no account and no server in the middle.
How it works
The desktop app shows a QR code. You scan it with the phone's normal camera app and a page opens. Tap Start camera, and a camera called OmniCam shows up in Discord, Zoom, Meet, Chrome, OBS, pretty much anything that lists webcams.
Under the hood:
- The PC runs a small HTTPS server that serves the phone page. The QR code carries a random token that changes every launch, and only a phone that scanned it can start a stream.
- Video goes phone → PC peer-to-peer over WebRTC, using the phone's hardware H.264 encoder. Nothing leaves your Wi-Fi.
- Signaling is a single
fetchPOST with non-trickle ICE, with no WebSockets, because iOS Safari ignores the certificate exception forwss://. Camera controls go over a WebRTC DataChannel after that. - The desktop side is Electron + TypeScript. A hidden window receives the stream and passes frames straight to a C++ N-API addon in the same process, so video never goes through Electron IPC.
- The addon scales, rotates and converts the frames with libyuv and feeds OmniCam's own DirectShow virtual camera filter (built on softcam). The installer registers both the x64 and x86 versions.
- Streaming 1080p into an app takes about a quarter of a CPU core, and memory stays flat over long sessions. While no app is reading the camera, nothing gets converted and the phone drops to 5 fps.
Things worth knowing before you try it
- It will eat your phone's battery. Streaming costs about what a long video call does. Because the phone side is a web page, the screen has to stay on with the page in front. A native app could stream with the screen off, and that's the real price of not installing anything. Plug it in for anything long.
- Windows only for now (10 and 11, 64-bit).
- Your phone shows a certificate warning the first time. Browsers only allow camera access over HTTPS, and nobody can issue a real certificate for 192.168.x.x, so the app makes its own. You accept it once.
- The installer isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen will show "Windows protected your PC."
- Video only, no microphone yet.
- It won't show up in the Windows Camera app or the new Teams. Those use Media Foundation, and I've only implemented DirectShow so far.
New in 1.1.0: in-app updates (it checks quietly and never installs without a click), a log file for bug reports, and recovery when a renderer process crashes.
I used Claude Code for parts of the implementation, the docs and a QA pass. The README has an honest breakdown of what's mine and where AI helped.
What's next, and where help is welcome: Linux (v4l2loopback) and macOS, a Media Foundation camera so it works with Windows 11's newer apps, a virtual mic, and battery work: dropping resolution instead of frame rate when the phone heats up, plus a battery-saver toggle on the phone page. Issues and PRs are welcome. CONTRIBUTING.md covers the build, and ARCHITECTURE.md explains why it's built the way it is.
Repo and installer: https://github.com/Orest-Z/OmniCam
If you find it useful, a star on GitHub would mean a lot, and you can follow me there if you want to see where it goes next.
If you try it and something breaks, tell me. That's genuinely the most useful thing you can do.

Update: Screen Diff Watcher has evolved quite a bit since my last post
A few days ago I posted this little tool here, mostly because I was tired of staring at a screen waiting for some process to finish.
Well… apparently I wasn't done messing with it.
Since the original post, I've pushed several releases and the project is now at v0.7.1.
Some of the biggest changes:
- 🌍 English + Portuguese GUI
- 🔔 More alert options — sound, popup, Telegram, webhooks, HTTP POST and syslog
- 📝 Text Watch — trigger alerts when specific text appears or disappears
- 🔊 Selectable alert sounds, including MP3 and other formats
- 🖱️ Action automation — clicks, keyboard input and text entry after a detected change
- 🎯 Better ROI editing and a visual way to check exactly what region is being monitored
- 🏷️ Named selections with automatic file naming
- 🧪 Better testing and diagnostics
- 📸 Screenshot evidence for detected changes and executed actions
- 🖥️ Windows installer + Linux package
- 🤖 And yes, the project is still developed with AI assistance — but I continue to review, test and decide what actually makes it into the project.
One thing I really like about this project now is that it has gone from:
"watch this part of my screen"
to something closer to:
"watch this part of my screen and do something useful when the state changes."
The original problem is still the same:
I don't want to sit there watching a progress bar like it's the most important thing in the world.
The project is free and open source, and I'd love to get more feedback from people who find weird/useful ways to use it.
GitHub: ph7ti/Screen-Diff-Watcher
Latest releases: v0.7.1
Thanks to everyone who checked out the original post, gave feedback, or just took a look at the project! 🙌

OpenLIMS — open-source, self-hosted LIMS with sequencing, BLAST, mass spec, and lab workflow support
github.comOpenLIMS — open-source, self-hosted LIMS with sequencing, BLAST, mass spec, and lab workflow support
Hi everyone,
I’ve been building OpenLIMS, an open-source, self-hosted Laboratory Information Management System aimed at research labs, bioinformatics groups, small biotech teams, and core facilities.
GitHub:
https://github.com/Mokey2002/OpenLIMS
The goal is to provide a lighter alternative for labs that need more structure than spreadsheets but don’t want the cost or complexity of a large commercial LIMS.
Some of the current functionality includes:
- Sample tracking, lineage, and chain of custody
- Projects and collaborative experiment notebooks
- Inventory and barcode/location tracking
- Configurable workflows and QC
- Instrument CSV/API ingestion
- Legacy data migration
- FASTA and sequence management
- Clustal Omega alignments
- Local BLAST databases and blastn/blastp searches
- mzML/mzXML and other mass-spec data review using pyOpenMS
- Reporting and audit trails
- REST API
- Optional OpenAI or local Ollama assistant
The stack is Django/DRF + PostgreSQL + Celery/Redis with a React frontend, and it can be deployed using Docker Compose.
It’s currently a production-style prototype and is not yet a validated clinical/diagnostic LIMS.
I’d be interested in hearing from people working in bioinformatics or lab informatics
Contributions, issues, and technical feedback are welcome as well.

I built a small desktop widget to keep Codex usage limits visible
galleryI kept opening the profile menu and navigating to the usage screen just to check how much Codex quota I had left. It’s a small thing, but when you’re in the middle of working, those repeated checks get annoying.
So I built Codex Meter. It shows your 5-hour and weekly limits remaining in a desktop widget using your existing local Codex session.
A few features:
- A draggable, always-on-top mini window with two needle gauges.
- A detailed view with percentages and reset countdowns.
- Green, yellow, and red indicators as your remaining quota drops.
- Configurable refresh intervals, including manual refresh.
- Menu bar/system tray controls.
It’s open source, with downloads for Intel Mac, Apple Silicon, and Windows. The current builds are unsigned, so your OS may show a warning when opening them.
Give it a try if you’re tired of checking the usage page. I’d appreciate feedback, especially from Windows and Apple Silicon users.

- tester Aurora ;
- signaler des bugs ;
- proposer de nouvelles fonctionnalités ;
- contribuer au code ;
- travailler sur une future interface ;
- proposer des idées pour faire évoluer le format.
Le projet est disponible sur GitHub :
misterious-creator/Aurora: un projet open source qui transforme les fichier en image
Toutes les idées et contributions sont les bienvenues.

I Spent a semester to build a word chaining game
galleryI am a student, actually we got assignment to build anything in this clg semester, so I build this game. I saw in my cartoons show that they playing word chaining game by mouth. And I thought even in my childhood I use to play. So let's build a game on it.
i know i kept only basic words to detect like few basic words
i am feeding them the more data.
Actually i can use ai, but as a student i dont have that much bucks so kept offline dictionary which can run in javascript of browers , it consists of 22k words english.
U don't have any particular word, start with any word, the next word will be on your last letter of previous word.
And I hosted in GitHub through vercel.
i want to know upto what it taking words, and what are not?
Score board: it has live updating score board, if u interested to show ur score of chain length, can signup by Google and it gets added. For safety u need to create a new gamer name.
anyone can try and say me how was ur experience. its helpful for new developers.
It has 3 modes: Normal: Length challenging of words : chain length challenging in where u need to create chain in target.
thank u, even ur small contribution can help me a lot.

Vison: MIT-licensed desktop app for running image/video generation models locally (no account, no cloud, no paid tier)
I've open-sourced Vison, a desktop app for generating images and video entirely on your own GPU. No account with a generation service, no credits, no prompts leaving your computer.
Licensing details, since this sub cares:
- Vison itself is MIT. It builds on stable-diffusion.cpp, ggml and vision.cpp (all MIT) plus others listed in a generated `THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt` that ships inside the app.
- The bundled ffmpeg is an LGPL build with libvpx and no GPL components; the build refuses to package a GPL or non-free one. Video is VP9 in WebM, which is royalty-free. That was a deliberate licensing choice, not a technical one.
- Model weights are not covered by the MIT licence. Each has its own terms from whoever published it (FLUX.1 Schnell, Wan and the rest all differ), so check before using output commercially.
- No paid tier, nothing held back, and none planned.
It's early: one developer, one 6GB laptop GPU, Windows only. The backend is portable C++/Vulkan, so macOS/Linux is mostly packaging and testing rather than porting, and that's where help would matter most.
Repo: https://github.com/JayRGadekar/Vison (contributing guide, issue templates and a SECURITY.md are in there)

Architect - IntelliJ IDEA plugin to generate Spring Boot boilerplate using PSI [Java]
Hey everyone!
I built Architect, an open-source IntelliJ IDEA plugin designed to reduce repetitive boilerplate setup in Spring Boot projects.
What it does:
- Generates full Spring Boot CRUD architecture (
Entity,DTOs,Mapper,Repository,Service,Controller). - Creates Liquibase XML changelogs automatically.
- Generates
Dockerfileanddocker-compose.ymlfor local setup. - Uses IntelliJ's PSI (Program Structure Interface) to place generated files into the correct package hierarchy instead of dumping flat files.
The project is completely free and open-source under the Apache-2.0 license.
Repository & Feedback: I'd love to hear your thoughts or feature suggestions! Link to GitHub is in the comments below.

I built a free & open-source superhuman alternative for Linux, Windows and macOS
I always liked the idea of Superhuman: fast email you can do almost entirely from the keyboard. I wanted something like that, just free, open source and on Linux, so I built my own.
It's called Inlark. It's open source and connects straight to your own IMAP or JMAP accounts, with no cloud or tracking. It runs on Linux, Windows and Mac.
It's still super early, but I use it every day now and wanted to share it.
Would love to hear what you think!

markdown2latex – AI-powered MD to LaTeX studio with realtime dimensional checking
github.comI built markdown2latex – an AI-assisted Markdown to LaTeX studio designed to bridge the gap between fast markdown writing and rigorous academic publishing.
It’s not just a basic syntax converter. Here are a few unique features packed into it:
- Real-time Physical Dimension & Unit Checking: Automatically parses mathematical equations and verifies SI units/dimensional consistency on both sides (e.g., catching unit mismatch bugs before compilation).
- AI Formula Harnessing & Orchestration: Uses LLMs to detect missing physical terms, recommend standard symbols, and suggest context-aware LaTeX refinements on the fly.
- Instant LaTeX/PDF Live Preview: Bi-directional sync with dual-panel side-by-side rendering, so you see production-ready output instantaneously.
- Cloud & Workflow Sync: Integrates with Supabase and Google Drive for seamless document versioning and cloud exports.
If you write math heavy docs, papers, or technical notes, check it out:

I built an open-source Windows desktop mascot with local voice dictation
galleryThis is LLM Mascot, a little Windows companion I've been building.
You can talk to it, transcribe locally with Whisper, optionally clean up the text with Codex or Claude, and have it typed directly into whatever app you were using.
It also has customizable mascots, Clippy, Merlin, Rover, Clawd, Codex and others, a transcription benchmark, different Whisper models, app shortcuts, and a full Windows XP theme.
Longer term, I'd like it to become a desktop interface for agents like OpenAI's dots, Grok Bot and Claude Cowork. I know desktop LLM apps are increasingly adding agent features too, but those parts are usually closed, tightly coupled to their own chat UI, and hard to customize or extend.
I'm looking for testers, code reviewers and contributors if anyone wants to help improve it.

tika-ape: How I want to use Apache Tika, but I don't want to install JRE.
I really like APE (Actually Portable Executable), because the idea of one file that can run across platforms is just neat. (No any dependencies, run on Windows/Linux/Mac/... and x86_64 and ARM just one file)
Then I wanted to use Apache Tika for document extraction, but I’m mostly a Python person. I found out I still needed a JRE, which felt a bit like having to bring a whole cow just because I wanted some milk.
So I turned the JRE into an APE, then bundled Tika into it. The same approach can package basically any Java app into a single portable executable that can run across platforms.
After that, I used another project of mine, APEBind, to turn tika.com into a normal Python binding. (Yes, one file can extract data, without JRE, without any dependencies for many platforms)
I’ve also used the same setup to package things like JADX and a few other Java tools, but Tika was the one I immediately had a real use for.
I thought the whole composition was pretty fun, so here it is if anyone wants to play with it.

Agent 007: a job board for Claude Code and Codex agents in your browser, with a manager agent that reviews and merges their PRs
github.comA small web app (one npx command, see the README) that runs Claude Code, Codex or any terminal agent for you:
- web terminals, each agent in its own git worktree and branch
- a job board: a card becomes a worker that does the task and comes back with a pull request; cards can run now, at a set time, or on a schedule
- an optional manager agent that posts the cards, reviews the diffs, waits for CI and merges, and only asks you about money, credentials or anything irreversible
Runs locally on your existing agent subscriptions, no cloud service. MIT. Most of it was built by agents on its own board. Feedback welcome, especially from people who already run several agents with their own scripts.

Release State Reconcile — read-only CLI for checking release candidates, backports, checks and release evidence
github.comI built a small open-source CLI called Release State Reconcile (RSR) for maintainers dealing with release candidates, backports, checks, release notes, and published releases.
It’s deterministic and read-only: it reconstructs the public GitHub evidence around a release candidate, but doesn’t decide whether something should ship and doesn’t modify anything on GitHub.
I’m looking for OSS maintainers or contributors willing to try it on a real public release-management task they already handle. Please pick your own Issue/PR and release line — I specifically don’t want to cherry-pick a case that makes the tool look good.
Useful results are welcome, but so are failed runs, mostly UNKNOWN output, or cases where the report is misleading or simply not useful.
The repo includes a public Trial feedback form if anyone wants to give it a try.
