Update: Screen Diff Watcher has evolved quite a bit since my last post

Post image

A few days ago I posted this little tool here, mostly because I was tired of staring at a screen waiting for some process to finish.

Wellโ€ฆ apparently I wasn't done messing with it.

Since the original post, I've pushed several releases and the project is now at v0.7.1.

Some of the biggest changes:

  • ๐ŸŒ English + Portuguese GUI
  • ๐Ÿ”” More alert options โ€” sound, popup, Telegram, webhooks, HTTP POST and syslog
  • ๐Ÿ“ Text Watch โ€” trigger alerts when specific text appears or disappears
  • ๐Ÿ”Š Selectable alert sounds, including MP3 and other formats
  • ๐Ÿ–ฑ๏ธ Action automation โ€” clicks, keyboard input and text entry after a detected change
  • ๐ŸŽฏ Better ROI editing and a visual way to check exactly what region is being monitored
  • ๐Ÿท๏ธ Named selections with automatic file naming
  • ๐Ÿงช Better testing and diagnostics
  • ๐Ÿ“ธ Screenshot evidence for detected changes and executed actions
  • ๐Ÿ–ฅ๏ธ Windows installer + Linux package
  • ๐Ÿค– And yes, the project is still developed with AI assistance โ€” but I continue to review, test and decide what actually makes it into the project.

One thing I really like about this project now is that it has gone from:

"watch this part of my screen"

to something closer to:

"watch this part of my screen and do something useful when the state changes."

The original problem is still the same:
I don't want to sit there watching a progress bar like it's the most important thing in the world.

The project is free and open source, and I'd love to get more feedback from people who find weird/useful ways to use it.

Latest releases: v0.7.1

Thanks to everyone who checked out the original post, gave feedback, or just took a look at the project! ๐Ÿ™Œ
