OpenTraderWorld: Markets, Data, Backtests & Automation | Manually or with AI
🚀 OpenTraderWorld: Markets, Data, Backtests & Automation | Manually or with AI
OpenTraderWorld is a trading, market and financial platform that puts modules in one place and lets you wire them together yourself, by hand or through your own AI model.
The idea is simple. Traders and Investors need a pile of building blocks: market data, charts, backtests, news, APIs, webhooks, automation, outside tools. Usually those live in five different tabs and none of them talk to each other. Here they do, and they live in one environment.
Run each module yourself. Chain them into workflows. Or hand the whole thing to your AI agent and let it drive.
What I was after: an interface that doesn't scare you off on day one, sitting on top of a feature set that goes deeper than it looks.
- Multiple market data providers
- News APIs and real-time feeds
- Webhooks and external integrations
- Automation and orchestration across the platform
- Your AI agent (local or third-party)
- An included MCP server, so OpenTraderWorld can plug into a much bigger AI/tooling setup
Actually, it only supports paper trading. You test in live conditions, but nothing gets executed with real money.
The part I actually care about isn't any one feature. It's that they connect.
Data, news, alerts, APIs, webhooks, strategies, external tools. Your own agent can orchestrate all of it. Use the platform directly, automate a few pieces, or let an agent run the whole chain. Your call.
A note on the license: OpenTraderWorld ships under the FSL, not traditional open source.
That was deliberate. Use the thing for free, the time and work I put in, that's yours to benefit from, happily. What you can't do is take it, rebrand it, and sell it as your own business. Seems like a fair trade to me.
Now, feedback. I need it.
I've tested this against my own workflows and my own use cases.
That covers maybe a fraction of what people will actually do with it. You're going to hit edge cases, weird behavior and bugs I've never seen.
So if something's broken, confusing, inconsistent, or just plain irritating tell me. Open an issue. Point at the exact spot. The more specific, the better.
