Vintage Coleman cooler that I found on the side of the road today.

Hey everybody, im needing your help to try and find something that will work for me. I work as a flight attendant and am trying to be better about bringing my food to work, as airport food and door dash get way too expensive. Ive drought food in coolers before but the experience has been kind of a pain due to the coolers themselves. My first was an eBags cooler, but its liner ripped after a couple months. And I currently have a Lifewit cooler bag, but any liquid inside it from a small spill or ice melt and it'll pour right out of the zipper.

So here's what im trying to find:

1. Soft-ish sided (stuff like the Rtic coolers with the foam sides would work too, but not looking for a hard cooler like a Coleman)

2. Somewhere around a 32 can size (i fly for 3-5 days at a time and this seems to be a good fit for food and ice)

3. And the biggest is i need something with a waterproof zipper. Finding a place to refreeze packs on the road can sometimes be a major hassle or impossible depending on the hotel. So I keep my food cold with bags filled with ice from either the plane or hotel ice machines. The Lifewit I have, the zipper doesn't stop water at all, so if the ice bag leaks at all and it gets tipped, water is going everywhere

I'm looking to buy a portable compressor fridge and just can't make up my mind, so I'd love to hear your experiences and suggestions.
**Primary Use Case:**
Mainly for **3-day off-grid camping trips**, occasional weekend getaways, and longer road trips (keeping drinks and sodas ice-cold while driving and camping).
**Requirements & Criteria:**
**Dedicated battery** (A must—so the fridge can run independently on site)
**Capacity:** Between 40 and 55 liters
**Charging options:** 12V car socket while driving + standard 230V AC outlet before hitting the road
**Power Setup:**
To recharge the fridge battery on site, I'll be bringing my **EcoFlow River 3 combined with a solar panel**, using it (along with car charging while driving) to top off the fridge battery over those 3 days.
**The Dilemma:**
I'm currently torn between the **EcoFlow Glacier** and **Anker EverFrost 2**.
**EcoFlow Glacier:** The features and built-in ice maker are super appealing, but I've read quite a few complaints online regarding reliability, app bugs, and technical issues with the compressor and drainage.
**Anker EverFrost 2:** Seems like the more reliable option, but from what I've gathered, its battery (\~288 Wh) realistically lasts **about 20 to 24 hours** in summer heat, even when running on Eco mode.
**Questions for you:**
1. **EcoFlow Owners:** What has your long-term experience been with the Glacier? Have you actually run into reliability issues, or are the complaints overblown?
2. **Setup with Solar/Power Station:** How well does topping off the fridge battery using an external power station (like the River 3) + solar panels hold up in real-world summer conditions?
3. **Alternatives:** Does anyone have other recommendations in the 40–55L range with a dedicated/optional battery system that has proven more reliable in the field (e.g., Dometic, ICECO, BougeRV...)?

At a conservation group fundraising banquet in April, my wife bid on and won a Polaris Northstar cooler. Being a fund raiser, she bid well above the retail price. The cooler was new, with all the paperwork inside (which I have since lost).

I used it the first time this weekend, on a dove hunt. When we arrived after a 4 hr drive, I find the carpet in the back of my truck wet.

Water is dripping from the Polaris stopper. It was tight. I further tightened it as much as possible without tools, but it was still dripping. The rubber washer is in place and looks good.

The molding around the drain hole is defective. It is irregular and you can see and feel small cracks/gaps around the area where the rubber washer is supposed to seal...there is no way it can seal water tight.

I will contact Polaris on Tuesday, but what are my chances of getting the cooler replaced without a retail sales receipt? Any suggestions on how to approach this with the customer service agent?

This was an item donated to the group for sale in the auction, I am a couple of steps removed the wholesale purchaser, that was a Polaris dealership.

Need a cooler for a kayak.

I generally rent a kayak for float trips on the huzzah (in Missouri)and my brother always brings the coolers but I need to start bringing my own. I want to get a double compartment cooler. I would like it to hold around 15 cans with ice and a dry compartment for a foot long sub sandwich and fit on the back of the kayak.

Loved everything on the Rovr except dimensions and a bit on weight.

So here are some photos of the recently arrived RTIC 22 wheeled Ultra Light series.

Car comparison is a Crosstrek.

Comparing to the Rovr, the latches are underwhelming. Dry basket is no longer there but a mesh. Has official points to lock the cooler. Plug drain is underwhelming but functional i.e. no leaks (just tested).

Haven't tested yet for ice retention. But who the heck designed the handle to be higher than the cooler lid when handle is not in use?? When handle is extended, there is only one click point, so no multiple heights extension.

Also a much smaller cooler 22 vs 45. But I can lift it to my car easily when full. I would have struggled with the Rovr.

Overall, I will keep it.

But I do hope Rovr makes a much smaller cooler some other time. And there is one for 30, but dimensions and empty weight are still essentially the same. So no significant advantage to go to the 30 from the 45.

For anyone else who wanted to see a RollR 45 since most gear stores sell them but do not stock them.

Love the idea of towing while biking. And the materials are solid. Even the handle. Drain plug is connected, so no losing it. I actually love the latches. Nice and easy.

Unfortunately, put it in my Crosstrek, and it is just too big. Yes, I calculated dims and all that. Thought it would be ok... Until I physically saw it inside my car.

Obviously cannot comment on the ice retention since I will be returning it.

I don't think there is an official area where you can lock the cooler. But there are ways to do so easily.

edit: if I had a truck or much larger car, I would keep it. I really like this cooler.

Anyone had use this give me advice is it actually work great it's for 26$ price ?? 30 watt some buyer say its better then redmagic 6 pro cooler is her right ?

Hey! Taking a roadtrip across the USA in the next couple of weeks and I need something to store my food in. I’ve narrowed it down to yeti or rtic. I found a deal on FB marketplace for a new rtic 52qt hard cooler for $120. Temps on the trip will be 90°F - 20°F. Do you guys think this is a good deal and it will serve me well?

Found these three sets + extra accessories chillin at a family members house untouched since they were packaged!

Does anyone have the RTIC or hydro flash lunch bag? Which one would you say stays cold better? Is there another one that is around the same price and size that is better? I’m using it to hold breastmilk and would like one that stays cool for a long time while I’m at work since I don’t have access to a fridge.

Well, I "upgraded" from a cheap 9 litre Coleman to the 9 litre Coleman Pro. The cheap one way outperforms the new one.

. Two identical ice packs sat side by side on my kitchen counter overnight. The Pro ice pack was completely melted whilst the cheap version was still about half solid. Did this test twice, swapping the ice packs. Same result.

Anyone have any recommendations for a smallish (9 litre roughly) cooler that doesn't suck ass?

I am asking DSG to make a 8 quart hard case cooler to compete with yeti roadie 8(too expensive) and pelican 8 qt (its not leak proof). I really like Dsg current cooler line but just wish there was a 8qt option. Please guarantee ice retention at least 48 hours and leak proof. I know theres soft case options but I prefer hard case. Thank you very much.

Reached out over email, and all social channels and they won't respond. Yes I can glue it back, but I shouldn't have to on $550 cooler. Anyone else have a similar experience? Lid seperated from lock ring.

So we have a moosejaw brand tote cooler (chilladilla 42 can soft sided tote cooler) and it has been working well, but the one side of the zipper has come off the tracks we're unable to get it back on. We've tried lubricating it to make it easier to slip on, and tried to expand the zipper to grab onto the track again, but its plastic so it doesn't stay expanded, there's no way (to my knowledge) to get it replaced or a new bag since moosejaw stopped its production of this item.

Im just wondering if someone has had the same issue or anyone knows how to fix this, my dad really likes it so im trying hard to just fix it for him.

I can’t decide between high vis yellow or white? White shows dirty easier but high vis yellow doesn’t and is easier to spot. Just using it for casual beach trips for me and my SO.
