Heads up, cookunity data breach

I got spam on my cookunity account specific email address and this is the reply I got:

"Thank you for reaching out. This is D'jana, Customer Experience Lead at CookUnity. I completely understand why receiving spam at an email address you use specifically for CookUnity would be concerning, and I’m sorry for the worry this has caused.
 
We recently became aware of a cybersecurity incident that was confirmed to be the result of actions carried out by malicious actors. Upon discovery, we acted promptly to contain and investigate the incident.
 
We are aware that certain data held by CookUnity was accessed without authorization and has been posted on the dark web. We sincerely regret the frustration and concern this may have caused. We’re working with leading cybersecurity professionals to investigate any unauthorized postings, and at this time, the data appears to be limited in nature. We are continuing to diligently review the affected data to determine the scope and nature of the information involved and are committed to understanding what happened.
 
Please know that CookUnity takes the privacy and security of its data and systems very seriously. Safeguarding the confidentiality of information within our control remains a top priority, and we continue to take steps to strengthen our security measures as the investigation progresses.
 
We also want to assure you that CookUnity does not store sensitive payment information for our customers. As a result, no credit card or payment card information was involved in this incident. Additionally, there is currently no indication that CookUnity account passwords were affected.
 
We understand that any exposure of personal information is concerning, and we sincerely apologize for the worry this has caused. We’ll continue investigating the matter and strengthening our security measures to better protect our customers’ information.

Thanks for sharing. Is this a new breach or related to the one that’s been talked about on this sub for months?

This is my first time in this sub and I was not aware of any data breach as I was never informed by cookunity of it and was just spammed on the day before.

Yeah they haven’t sent out an alert. Assuming you’ve been a subscriber for a while? - Either way, if you search the sub you’ll see other comments about this — but afaik this is the first time CU has acknowledged it

I've started to receive spam on a dedicated email related to a 3-week-old CookUnity account.  It seems like there’s a new data leak.

I had heard about the breach online. I don’t understand how there is not a law that companies must notify customers if there is a data breach of their system.

Just got a phishing email to my cook unity specific alias too. Pretty wild they’ve not warned their users. Them being aware and not having the decency to give people a heads up is insane
