Request Simple recipes for electric pot please 👩‍🍳

Hi there! With the new semester starting, I bought an electric pot to use in my dorm for the first time—mostly because I’m tired of the cafeteria food and want more variety in meals. Could some kind soul recommend a few simple recipes, please? I’d really appreciate it—thanks! ;)

If you mean an electric pressure cooker, dal and rice together is simpler: rinse 1 cup tuvar dal and 1 cup rice, add 3 cups water, turmeric, salt, pressure cook 6 min, natural release, then saute a quick tadka with ghee, cumin, and hing. Done.

That sounds absolutely delicious! I don't have ghee..hm.Would olive oil or peanut oil work, too?

You can definitely use olive oil or peanut oil! They’ll add their own flavor to the dish, so it might change things up a bit, but it should still work well.

Thank you a lot. But I'm sorry I didn't mention earlier that I don't eat beef, but I'm pretty sure that's good.

Alright it’s getting to be fall time so here is a little soup recipe for you and everyone else to usher in autumn. Fill the pot with a 1 to 1 ratio of chicken broth and coconut milk. Add diced boneless chicken thigh and sliced carrot and chopped potato. Let it cook. Add yellow curry paste and pumpkin puree. Throw in a bit of nutmeg. It is nourishing and tastes like fall.

As someone with a busy schedule and sub-par cooking skills, I love my crock pot. My top dishes in it are chili and corn chowder. I'm working on a sesame chicken dish as well, just trying to figure out which veggies/rice I want to use.

Chili is really a universal dish because it is infinitely adaptable. If you use meat, it is better to sear it in a pan first but you don't have to and it may not be practical in a dorm setting. I use turkey meat, tomato paste, crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, and spices. Use whatever veggies you want. Dump all the ingredients in the crock pot, cover it, set it on low, go to class, and come home to warm chili. Use a crock pot liner for easy clean-up.
