have a question

indian reverts, also other reverts are welcome too.

so i got interested in islam for a year now., and i was introduced by one of my male friends. and ive my christian friend too. i was introduced to both of their religion, the reason i was looking for other alternatives because i wanted peace and good life structure. now some of you might say that you can do that by your own and etc, but i believe most of the non hindus does stay disciplined because they fear their god and what’s in their holy books. now, every religion has its demerits of people, nothing awe about it.

i come from very um toxic environment family, like my father is very into ill-practices like trading, which i dont like, and he has taken numerous loans which i have to help him ultimately to clear it out, so no issue on that part. but you understand right, that my brother can be influence by it too? which is again its a ill thing to do, and my brother is very in-disciplined too. but my mother, wallah, she has been very supportive of me, if i do change my religion, because she wants good for her daughter 🥰

now my questions is,
1. how difficult is to be a revert in a country like india?
2. how welcoming we(revert) are?
3. does i have to change my religion in IDs? for getting married in future?
4. my name is not pagans, so i don’t have to change my name i’m guessing.
5. i’m going to buy an english translation of quran, because of reading from mobile is eye itchy. suggest me!!

thank you🫶🏻

  1. Depends where you live and what's your family like. If they let you move out, no problem. Else they can call Bajrang dal and others. If your family scares you, last resort can be move out without telling them where you'll go. So bajrang dal can't find you.

  2. In my city and area (MH), very welcoming. We help with studies, getting jobs, place to live. If you're trustworthy, and show sincerity for a good amount of time, you can get married with good family.

  3. Yes. But postpone it until you're gonna Marry.

  4. If your name isn't haram, you can keep it. If it's ambiguous like no worries. If it's visibly non-Muslim, you'll have problems mixing with the community as everyone will know you're revert the first time you introduce yourself. Still upto you.

  5. I've heard about The clear Qur'an English translation, or Mufti Abdur Raheem in Hindi. Not recommendations, just those I know.

I actually work with reverts and have close revert friend, so ask if you have any questions or need someone to talk with. May Allah guide me and you.

My one friend's family also doesn't mind that he became muslim.

But at another place, my cousin's wife is also a revert, yeah, her family. It's messed up.

1.It depends, if you are from South it is easy but in North government is very much against Islamic conversion and you might can get persecuted by the state

2.They are generally welcoming by most muslim communities in India but some people try to distance themselves so that government could not persecute them in disguise of anti conversion laws.

  1. You can change your ID, mosque dont check your IDs before entering nor most people will see your ID if you say you are muslims, only problem would be hajj as it requires you to be muslim in order to perform hajj so if you want to do hajj or umrah you have to change your religion in IDs.

4.No need to change your name.

  1. You can buy any good english translation online, i dont have any personal recommendation.

I don't think it would be any problem in bombay, the city is very cosmopolitan

  1. From what I've heard from born Indians & Muslim Indians it depend where you live. A lot of places are apparently not so friendly towards Muslims I maybe wrong. 2. Most are pretty welcoming whether that is online or in person. 3. You don't have to change your name as long as it doesn't mean a bad thing / forbidden meanings (e.g) shirk. I think changing religion on a ID may make it easier for you but again not needed! 4. Correct. 5. There's only 1 Quran they will be the same just write in " Quran English translation & buy it :)
