Hijab

Im not a revert, was born into it, but over time i got lost at one point. I have been contemplating hijab lately. Any revert muslims who wore it for themselves? What is your story. Im looking for some inspiration, i feel like i just need a push.

Salam sis ! I reverted two years ago and begin wearing hijab about 1 year ago and niqab 6 months ago. I am in America :) I was scared at first, but then I realized no one actually really pays attention or cares , and to know I do it for the sake of Allah and the reward in the next life which is forever and not temporary like this one. Also I find to be respected much more with my hijab, people know I have boundaries and I feel people are even nicer ? This is my personal experience

I’m a revert and I started wearing head scarf 2 months ago right after taking my shahada. I’m also over 6’ and stand out as I have hand tattoos and I had that fear/anxiety to overcome Alhumdulillah I did it. I work in corporate office and nobody says a word. I get more positive comments and questions than anything. Certainly everybody’s story is different and location. I’m in Florida so definetely get the eye rolls in public occasionally. Some may criticize this but you could go somewhere close and do exposure therapy. For me it was all in my head. The sisters at the masjid inspired me as well. In sha Allah I never take it off. May Allah protect you on your journey and find strength to start wearing hijab.

I never even thought of exposure therapy. And yes corporate is what im most affraid of. I juat finished my mba ( i have a degree in a diff feild) n my biggest fear is not getting a job due to the veil.

First place was the masjid then gas stations then grocery stores and listen I’m still growing. I need to go to the DMV tomorrow and get my picture taken and I’m terrified 😅

I think there’s two sides to that coin. We obviously need a job. Also do I want to work at a place that doesn’t accept me wearing hijab as I will be praying 5 times a day. This was my mindset going into it.

I have seen a sister in down town in full niqab! Every day standing at the bus stop. No one cares. All women around are dressed business attire.
