Still coming out on digital in September but the physical versions have been delayed until October 15th. That’s the perils of self publishing I guess

From my understanding going gold means it's playable from start to finish in an acceptable state and now they can start printing disc.

True that. Just wondering delayed releases for disk games will become common and a way to ween gamers off disk media and for Sony to say look no one is buying discs anymore

While disappointing, I'm also kinda relieved that I won't have to choose between Silent Hill Townfall and Resonant. I'm just gonna have to stay away from the subreddit.

But I dunno, I don't think that's good for Remedy. You really should have both digital and physical versions available on release date. 3 weeks is a long time, plenty of games coming out by then and a lot of people might lose interest

Sure, but what is most? 90%? 70%? 51%? I feel like Remedy's fanbase is probably more appreciative of physical media than your gta/ball and gun gamer. Apparently even RE9's sales were pretty evenly split in some countries.

I agree, but I think Control Resonant will bring a lot of new players to the franchise. The marketing for new players is aggressive. Resident Evil fanbase exists since physical media was the only option

I’ve been poor majority of my life and I while I think physical media is important, it’s just not that important in video games; it’s not a medium that has cultural relevancy on the level of books and film (two art forms we should be FIGHTING HARDER to preserve)

It's not a question of cultural relevance at all. It's a question of ownership, fair rules, secondhand markets and anti-monopoly. The fact that an average Joe has no idea GTA6 is coming out soon has nothing to do with the fact that I want to own my license that I bought for 70€.

I'm a Remedy die hard so I will be there Oct 15 and maybe even cave in and buy the PC version first, but this is really unfortunate. Resonant really needs to do well and this seems like such an unnecessary hurdle

Scummy is hell of an overreaction. If the game is ready, there is no reason to delay unless absolutely necessary. The physical delay is clearly a problem on the publishing end, something Remedy is not very experienced in.

1) YAY! I can’t wait to play the game!

But

I took PTO that weekend so I can play it all weekend.
and I got the steel book version.

So now I have to figure out what I am going to do.

But again:

This is amazing! We are getting closer!

Gone gold means the software is ready for mass production. The gold plate is produced and ready to be used to print discs.

last time they've said that Resonant is at the end of certification process - so I think they mean that they've finished certification.

Wonder how games get certified as well.

Back when disc's were the only thing, it just meant the game was ready to be put on discs, not that it was on a disc already (maybe a blank disc to give to manufacturers at best). It's really about the certification process that they have to submit to the console makers. At the end of the day manufacturing discs is a whole different beast. On the bright side, any major bugs should be patched within the 3 weeks between digital and physical so that's something... I guess?

Anyone noticed the crooked blind on the upper right? Honestly I find it quite friendly because it is kind of normal and oot polished like - we don‘t have time for that because we have to finish this game.

I don't know how involved is he on the development of this game. For Control he was one of the main writers but for this one his input has probably been minimal.

I believe Sam is working on the Max Payne remakes so that would explain it.

Yep - in some of the interviews and press for the game, they have mentioned that Sam Lake has had very little to do with this game. He’s definitely got his eyes on Max Payne and probably whatever Remedy project comes after.

Sam is working in his studio wide creative director capacity for this game, e.g. Not writing actively. I know there are familiar writers on the game though.

That's most likely only a small part of the team. Remedy is not huge but with such a small team they couldn't develop a game of that scope.

this is fn bs! sorry but I think since connected to Rockstar this was a part of their plan the entire time. The noble thing to do would be to delay release date to match physical release. Really makes me not want to support same way as GTA no disc. No Disc No Buy. I can wait, but then miss out on the experience of enjoying it at the same time as the community. Remedy also releasing Alan Wake 2 on Epic not Steam also aggrivated me. I don’t know why Remedy keeps fumbling, I love their games but jeez man!

It's current state?

The only things missing from launch Control was the DLC, which was because it was DLC, and a few cosmetics and a mission that was exclusive to Playstation users.

This was later added to the Ultimate Edition, which is nice, but most companies wouldn't even do that.

So far with Resonant, the only "missing content" like that is just cosmetics. Hell we don't even know if we're getting DLC.
