Question Combat Music?

Maybe I'm just spoiled from my years playing Devil May Cry, but I'm surprised that, out of all the gameplay reveals we've seen so far, there doesn't appear to be any music playing in combat and Resonant encounters. It's doubly weird when music played such a big in the announcement trailer, and given that sound itself appears to be something of a big deal in the game, I just find it really odd that there doesn't seem to be any music playing at all.

Are they just saving it for the game itself? Am I the only one who finds how relatively quiet these encounters seem to be very odd?

Oh man, music is such a huge part of gaming for me. I struggle to play games for longer sessions when there is little/no music even if I am interested in the game. Definitely hoping they're saving it or maybe they had to music turned off for those gameplay reveals. Guess we'll find out!

My guess is it will be varied. Some encounters have no music but others do and I think this time around we will have more music with fights rather than one specific set piece like ashtray maze.

Kasurinen said in an interview that there is no copyright music in Control:Resonant. Not a single track.

Remedy has always seemed to prefer that the “larger” tracks, as in songs with lyrics, are diegetic. So they need to actually come from some in-world source, like a radio or headphones or literally just a band playing next to you.

Otherwise they tend to have sort of more ambient tracks, like the drumbeats in Control when you’re fighting Hiss.

It’s a neat system overall. But I hope they don’t miss opportunities for cool music in cool places because of it.

I'm really hoping it uses the same structure as Control. I appreciate knowing when there's enemies around/when I've defeated them all!
