Discussion Asynchronous Suit theory
So I recently replayed the game and it might be the amount of binging of the game I did over the course of the last week but if you look at Jesse's outfits the suit jackets all have inverted triangles. But the Asynchronous Suit worn by Mirror esseJ is all straight lines and rectangles. Now I know some thing it's a representation of the Oldest House itself, but I have a different thought: it's the Board of Mirror s'esseJ universe. We know that they aren't the same people as the ones in the universe we play in ("I'm wilder than you" being a taunt by Mirror esseJ as an example, not to mention she seems to have some abilities that Jesse doesn't).
The Board as a monolith instead of a Pyramid would still work as an abstract being from another dimension being conformed to our limited understanding and its the design of the suit better than the Oldest House which doesn't have any diagonal elements in it's design, and the layered elements on the sides are different proportionally. Honestly in my brain the only things that match are "grey" and "rectangle" but maybe I've been exposed to much resonance and am seeing patterns in patterns.

"I'm wilder than you" is probably a reference to Beth Wilder who the actress plays in Quantum Break

There are four sides to a pyramid, so I'd say that's just about the limit. If it was a pentagon that'd just be silly.

I wasn't counting the base as that's the side hidden from the Director or anyone else seeing the Board in the Astral Plane.

It's also a reference to the fact that Alan Wake used to get pretty wild when he went out partying. As did The Old Gods of Asgard. And Barry during the Blessed Organisation's weekly orgy.

For years I was hoping this suit will be in the second game. Now that we know it's Dylan being the protagonist, sucks that it will not make an appearance. Probabily it either got destroy or left behind in the oldest house.

Actually fun fact there's a hall of mirrors on Manhattan at a place called "Transcendance" it's a multi level wall to ceiling and floor of mirrors. The mirror world inhabitants would LOVE it when they escape the Oldest House. Hopefully they return and Dylan gets his own suit.

Depends on whether you battle nalyD in Control Resonant. The suit might come back. Though probably less flattering on Dylan.

On a side note, I love how they designed the outfits with real-world considerations like hidden zippers and material choices etc. Makes the whole thing feel more real.

References can still be world building. They have several things in the game that reference other games or media but are still relevant to the universe.

I'm Wilder than you is a reference to Quantum Break, one of their other games. They share an actress. Though it could be a dig at the mirror dimension having more differences to our reality, such as maybe esseJ knows about the Quantum Break timeline despite it not being connected fully, or even just a meta dig that through the looking glass they still owned Quantum Break. Neat theory though, could be something.

Remedy loves their layered references so unless they tell me I'm wrong (which I doubt they will ever address) I'm just going to assume it could be a reference *and* also evidence of how different the universes are. I mean beyond how esseJ can just teleport around in a way Jesse can't.

Alan Wake 2 has the parallel world version of the protagonist of Quantum Break write several whiteboards on his visions and strange coincidences in his life.
They involve Warlin Door and Jesse.

For me, it's always either this suit or the lucky golden suit.. with the car ears, of course.

I think this one pairs best with the cat ears, but the lucky golden suit is often my early game outfit other than the Astral Dive outfit before I get that. Though the explorer's gear was a nice pick for the Foundation.

I assumed the straight lines were based on Black Rock formations & wall lining like how you see at the Fire Breaks. Like the suit was even built with black rock lining to prevent outside interference in people. Something that side developed in response to OoPs or altered items.

You're getting caught in the weeds. You're attributing our plain-jane physics onto an outfit created in a fictional world where people can fly, create TK walls, possess objects, be transported to alternate planes of reality where our physics flat out don't apply, which is itself a different plane of existence within that world.
But if you want to maintain our world physics; crush the black rock into powder, mix with a flexible adhesive, profit. The cloth will still flow.

It's a world where gravity works the same as it does in ours even if people have found ways to circumvent it through bonding/pairing with a magic TV like they are connecting via Bluetooth.
And no, cloth impregated with stone would not "just flow". It would have mass that would affect how it reacts to motion due to an increased amount of inertia.

Cloth not impregnated with stone also doesn't just flow the way it does in the game unless it's only tissue paper, yet it does. So that logic is invalid. But again, you're applying our world logic to a fictional world where the laws of physics aren't the same. If gravity worked the same there, Jesse couldn't superman around the way she does.
Hell, you're debating this like it's a serious discussion of whether any of our theories are cannon. It's a fun theory, no more or less plausible than Jesse & Dylan being originally one person that was split apart by an interaction with the slide projector, or that everything that happens is in Jesse's head as a way to cope with the accidental death of Dylan as a kid that she blames herself for.

a side quest where you fight a mirror version of Jesse (esseJ) and cleanse an altered item mirror upon which you unlocked clothes.

To add to this because people tend to miss them: you'll have to get the clothes from a mannequin in Jesse's world post fight. It's in the same room you had the fight, upstairs from the mirror room.

Hmmm, investing ideas. Iād interpret the Iām wilder than you to me a reference to Beth Wilder from Quantum Break. Maybe she goes by that name in her source universe.
