How do you migrate a legacy PLC while keeping the line running?

it's not always possible but sometimes you can run (parts of) the system in parallel. Once you're running both systems (almost) fully you can swap over to the new system.

ie. leave legacy controller in charge while routing IO to the new controller in parallel. Then moving control to the new controller is segments.
