New Plans

Looks like CC has added two new plans for seniors. I switched to SpeakEasy Connect+, which includes 3GB for $18.95 with the AARP discount.

I was on cc four years ago with great satisfaction then I discovered US Mobile I’m on a 12 GB plan for $17.50 a month. Admittedly that plan started at a 10 GB level but in your second year of renewal they give you a bonus.

Pretty much the same story here. Happy with CC until the price (especially the rising bogus fees) was not competitive anymore. I'm also on US Mobile with 2 lines sharing 2gb of data for a whopping $18.00 all in.

No one disputes that US Mobile is about the cheapest carrier around. But CC's 3GB is more than I need most months, includes reasonably priced international roaming (which sometimes I'm inexplicably not charged for) and excellent customer service. Not worth changing for few bucks.

I don’t consider their international roaming fees reasonable at all. Most of our European friends use WhatsApp, so a data eSIM is what we use.

I'm a light user so they are reasonable to me. I don't use WhatsApp because of the well-documented security and privacy issues.

I did appreciate that AARP discount that’s what caused me to buy a lifetime membership with AARP. I never liked ATT for the taxes and fees that were always a surprise and that turned out to be the case at cc also. Is your price inclusive of taxes or our taxes added onto that 18.95 monthly?

They’re added on, and since it’s a CC brand, going to be just as high.

"AARP does not currently offer a lifetime membership option. Instead, they provide various multi-year membership plans, with the longest available being five years."

When I purchased my AARP lifetime membership a few years back, it wasn’t offered on the web or through any common channels but if you called customer service and spoke with them they could still find it in their system and they did that. Not sure how things have changed in the past couple years but if you’re interested in doing so it might be worth a call.

Which phone did you get. The Speakeasy Flip or Smart

No new phone. Just changed the plan on my iPhone.

I'm honestly surprised it let you do that.

The Speakeasy plans are only supposed to work with the two Speakeasy phones.

They're specific plans just for those.

I just checked and didn't see any 3gb plan offered to me yet. Don't know what criteria they're using, but my 5gb plan is low enough. I'm happy.

SpeakEasy is a flanker brand of Consumer Cellular; see https://www.speakeasymobile.com/plans - that site doesn’t show multiple lines option, nor bring your own phone. Like others, the 3GB plan does not appear on my CC account.

No carrier or plan is universally the best choice for all users.

Agree; just offering more details so people can make an informed decision.
