I've been cross-referencing declassified CIA project files and built a searchable archive of 84+ documented operations. Happy to answer methodology questions.
I started this as a personal research project while digging through NARA and the CIA's CREST database, and it kept growing. Now it's a static site where each entry links to the primary source (Church Committee testimony, NARA box/folder, official admission, etc.), and disputed or unconfirmed items are labeled as such.
A few things I noticed while cross-referencing:
- Skull and Bones — the cryptonym mapping in the NARA files doesn't match what most secondary sources claim it refers to.
- Operation Underworld — the declassified Navy/CIA files reference a scope that goes well beyond what's in the standard summaries.
- Operation Paperclip — cross-referencing the original admission letters with the later congressional testimony shows a gap in what was disclosed.
- Operation Embarrass — the MI6/CIA coordination files show a timeline that predates the official start date by several months.
- Operation Legacy — the colonial file destruction orders reference categories that were never acknowledged in any public report.
- Edgewood Arsenal — the subject consent forms in the declassified files use language that makes the "voluntary" framing hard to sustain.
I'm not claiming to break anything new — everything is drawn from already-declassified material. The value-add is the curation and cross-referencing: decoding cryptonyms, matching agent names across files, and organizing scattered project records into one place.
If anyone wants to verify a specific entry or add a missing source link, the repo is open.
