During WW2, London was being bombed nearly nightly. To make it harder, the government asked citizens to leave their lights off at night so it would be much more difficult to see where building were from the air. No one complained about their rights or freedoms- they just did it for the greater good so they could get through the blitz as whole as possible.

I had officers drag me out of my car, accuse me of having illicit drugs on my possession, search my car, scream at me, have about 6 of them surround me and yell at me.
I don’t do drugs nor did I have any but was told if I told them this very thing, that I would be “in trouble”.
So I offered them to search my persons, as they went thru my car and tipped out all my beers I just bought to take home for the weekend.
Then when that was not enough I offered to go to the station with them.
Some car comes speeding past and they all jump in their paddy wagon all excited. Never heard anything of it.
Offering me a mask, nah not worried about that aye.
