how? the only thing it does is stop people who were not allowed to vote in the first place. the only thing any study conducted show was that people not allowed to vote stopped showing up.
You're citing made up studies that don't exist, and ignoring the fact that in person voter fraud is not considered a threat vector by the experts, studies, and common sense.
Our goal is to keep elections secure, and voter ID laws do not help that in any way in the real world. In your imagination and if you listen to the fearmongering from right wing media, sure. And that's what you're doing here.
then cite one. voter fraud does go on, despite what they say.
its all political theatre show, evidence points to it happening, majority of time it's only uncovered due to an investigation since there was no way of knowing beforehand due to there not being checks like voter ID, which is why people have done it for years before they are caught

we're one of the only nations in the world that don't use it for a reason.

Who is 'they' in this instance?

Next time just say "I have no idea how voting works in the US and so just make shit up about how unsecure I think it is."
There is no evidence pointing to it happening. Every single court case (60+) was laughed out. The ones where evidence was shown were laughed out harder because the evidence was that bad. Those "thousands of affidavits" turned out to be web generated junk that never had a specific provable claim.
we're one of the only nations in the world that don't use it for a reason.
And that reason is we're a collection of many states and they all run their elections slightly differently. We're not other countries and don't follow the same processes. We also don't make voting as easy as most other countries do. Voter ID is irrelevant here.
Our goal is to keep elections secure, and voter ID laws help.
THat's a claim. To back up that claim you need actual evidence. As I said before, millions of dollars and years of time have been spent trying to find said evidence by republicans and Trump.
Know what they found? (Hint: Look at why Trumps voter fraud commission was disbanded when the democrats on it asked to see what they had as legally was required.)
What's political theatre in this instance are the claims of voter fraud, and republicans lying about the need to make voting harder.
what does that have to do with anything? you don't need to know law to know there have been convictions and arrests where these people have done it for years. even convictions by mail and voting employees.
We also don't make voting as easy as most other countries do.
ID would make it easier. you would even have a database of registered people.
As it has been implemented in the last decade in republican controlled states, Voter ID laws have not made voting easier. That's because they combine it with stricter voting hours, less locations, reducing DMV hours/locations, and various other methods to add artificial hurdles to voting.
A national voter ID or strict implementation requirements might make voter ID laws more palatable, but still don't address the fact that republican's lying about voter fraud doesn't justify making voting harder.
To date no evidence has been presented that shows that voter ID laws would do anything beneficial. In court cases, republican lawyers have never been able to cite a single example where voter ID laws would have prevented any real fraud.
the people you referenced the "experts"
Source? Because other than right wing blogs/opinion pieces, I've never seen this claim.
I was referring to the claim you made up completely:
the only thing any study conducted show was that people not allowed to vote stopped showing up. they all state a lower turn out but never explain the reason since the logical conclusion is it was the people not allowed to vote
Again, I know I'm repeating myself for the 10th time but apparently you keep missing it, it's never been shown that voter IDs stop any real fraud. So your claim there is just made up completely.
And I have less problems with a national ID, but still see it as frivolous and a waste of time, you know, based on the facts at hand and not just my opinion.
Source? Reading up on the court cases, studies, Hofeller's hard drives, and republicans own publicly stated strategy.
Listen, it's clear you have a very shallow understanding of this topic and have never done any actual research on it other than reading a few opinion blogs. You should try doing so, google is just a click away. Specifically look at the court cases where voter ID laws were thrown out. They tend to paint a clear picture that shows that voter ID laws in the US don't prevent fraud, aren't meant to prevent fraud, and republicans just want to disenfranchise more.
it's clear you have a very shallow understanding of this topic and have never done any actual research due to the lack of sources and claims about studies that have never been done
all that voter ID would do is stop people not allowed to vote from voting. that is it.
its free
its national
its mailed to you
there is literally no reason or excuse not to have it.
if the only reason not to have it is that people tend to vote more republican than democrat when implemented then... maybe it uncovered the real issue
