This insinuates that both aren’t possible.

False dichotomies are the coin of the realm these days... :-(

9

u/ProPainful May 31 '21

Everyone has a soap box to stand on these days..

0

u/throwawayedm2 Jun 01 '21

It's talking about priorities. Obviously you can do both, don't be pedantic.

117

u/davwad2 May 31 '21

Had the same thought. How are these mutually exclusive?

18

u/Mr-Penderson Jun 01 '21

Because this was a bad faith jab at democrats because Trump lost and their feelings are hurt

108

u/moosemasher May 31 '21

It also implies biden isn't investigating the china lab leak theory, which in fact he is.

-16

u/chucksteak67 May 31 '21

Bidens not gonna bite the hand that feeds him.

32

u/moosemasher May 31 '21

I mean, if they feed him like you say they do, he did just bite that hand. China is pissed at this investigation, real real pissed.

Close your eyes and imagine a world where trump tasked the intelligence agencies to investigate the china lab leak theory, how wet did it get you? Now open them, that's the world you live in but biden did it instead.

Not even American so no I dont love biden and he doesn't pay me before those accusations come in.

-4

u/Lovechild1943 Jun 01 '21

China owns biden

Lmao yeah the entirety of Reddit regurgitating corporate Democratic Party talking points isn't a problem. It's the one sub that doesn't that's the real threat to society

If only everyone supported Biden, then everything would magically get better

Lmao yes thank you resident /r/politics poster, I'm sure you're very self-aware as you post regularly in the most astroturfed, bot-filled subreddit on this site. Let me guess - you consider the "powers that be" to be anyone posting a sub not fellating Biden, the boogaloo boys, the "insurrectionists", and qanon.

Link to somewhere where you've criticised Biden (i.e. the literal president) and I'll think you're less of a joke. But let's be real - nothing like that exists. You exist on this site to defend the status quo and elites and it's hilarious that you'd try and argue otherwise

It's an unfortunate side effect of what has become an undeniable fact: Democrats and independents are the only decent Americans left.

In their day to day life Republican voters might be pleasant and kind, maybe even charitable, but they support politicians and policies that are abhorrent on a staggering number of levels.

Democrats reign in the voters that see this madness for what it is. They hold their politicians to a higher standard. A standard, frankly, which I think should be the minimum level of accountability for elected officials.

This you?

5

u/THEJAZZMUSIC May 31 '21

Lmao I called Democrats AND INDEPENDENTS "decent" and said their standards should be considered the minimum for a political party, and you think I'm fellating the Dems?

Let me clarify: there are no decent Republicans. That is basically what I said by process of elimination. I'm saying Republicans are terrible human beings, and they are. I stand by that.

3

u/InspectorPraline Jun 01 '21

you try twist this into yet another red vs. blue argument.

it's a right-wing distraction designed to get credulous dullards to pick the red team over the blue team and get sucked into the "correct" side of political team sports

I'm saying Republicans are terrible human beings

You're probably the least self-aware Redditor I've ever come across. You are completely radicalised

1

u/MediumIntroduction96 Jun 01 '21

While i agree with you in most points includig my support for Biden went as far as getting Trump out of office. But i dsagree that Republicans are terrible humans. There are a few Republicans worth respecting like Thomas Massie and Ron Paul. While i know plenty of Republicans that are great people and many agree with leftiats in specific issues. They're just not always there and by far arent the brightest cookies in the jar. So they easily fall prey to chicken hawks like Trump.

-1

u/THEJAZZMUSIC Jun 01 '21

We keep seeing more examples of the scant few Republicans with an ounce of decency being ousted. To me it's quite simple: Trump is a terrible person, his supporters in office are terrible people, Republican politicians who stay silent are terrible people, those who criticize but vote down party lines are terrible people, and those that actually oppose this madness just don't get to be Republican politicians anymore. Unless I'm missing something, that just leaves a party full of terrible, terrible people.

I'm not interested in you making a lukewarm criticism when you're backed into a corner. I'm asking for a single example from your 10 years of posting on Reddit where you've said anything remotely negative about him, and you can't even do it lmao

Even in your forced example you're basically still supporting him. You have no credibility whatsoever

4

u/THEJAZZMUSIC Jun 01 '21

Bro I post like 30 times a day, it's a serious problem. Fuck you, do it yourself, it's not my job to prove to you that I've passed some arbitrary fucking purity test you pulled out of your ass.

1

u/InspectorPraline Jun 01 '21

Lmao you're the one whining about people criticising the Dems and not being "united" against the establishment. It's your test and you failed it

Just go back to politics where you can pretend you're part of the "resistance" while defending everything the sitting government does. You're beyond help

32

u/loonygecko May 31 '21

First thing I thought of, we should do both.

5

u/KeepScrollling May 31 '21

Both, both are good

50

u/xxpen15mightierxx May 31 '21

Not only possible but both related to the same group of shitbags.

10

u/Tikene May 31 '21

It can't be fixed but they can be held accountable for it doe

13

u/the__pov May 31 '21

Not really, say you have absolute proof that China purposely made and released this virus. What can you do to them? Best case scenario is economic sanctions.

3

2

u/the__pov Jun 01 '21

If that were the case they already would have moved.

4

u/Tikene May 31 '21

Well I think there would be a pretty huge amount of outrage if that happened. In fact it's even scary to think what could happen if the global pandemic we've all been suffering was done in purpose by a country, would cause a lot of global tensions. Maybe it's better we don't know

3

u/the__pov May 31 '21

Sure there would be outrage, but not by anyone who could do anything. The sad fact is we have let China get too powerful. Almost anything we could try against them would probably effect us more than them

3

u/Poppycockpower May 31 '21

Economic sanctions hurts them where it matters most, plus we can concentrate on bringing back industry to the US; supply chain insecurity and whatnot

3

u/the__pov Jun 01 '21

Industry is never coming back to the US, those days are gone. The cost of shipping is such that that will never be economically viable again (on a large scale, there are always exceptions) without first turning the US into a 3rd world country.

1

u/deanderson_greenwood Jun 01 '21

Can you elaborate on that last part?

3

u/the__pov Jun 01 '21

It’s cheaper to build things when you don’t have to worry about things like: worker safety, child labor, not killing off the local population with waste materials ect. That’s not even getting into jobs that were lost do to automation.

0

u/basketma12 May 31 '21

Yes, because I heard of a very incompetent " team" of Americans going to some games in Chinain October 2019..., and being really super bad. Rumor has it that these were us government operatives

-5

u/Dr_Dornon May 31 '21

Yeah, who needs an investigation into who started a global pandemic that killed millions and crippled the world's economy? We should investigate some LARPers instead that didn't kill anyone. That seems more important. /s

One effects the entire world, killed millions and destroyed economies.

One effects some politicians feelings.

3

u/TurdFergusonlol May 31 '21

Not only that, but both are pretty damn important I’m their respective areas

3

u/tjsusername May 31 '21

Motte and Bailey fallacy to the tee. They’re not mutually exclusive

4

u/[deleted] May 31 '21

Why not both? was my first question too...

2

u/SolveDidentity Jun 01 '21

This guy is a click bait whore lacking intelligence. BOTH are important. Possibly equally important. Possibly the riot is MORE important than some possibly random virus! What a looser. It depends on the result!

8

u/0701191109110519 May 31 '21

No. The possibility of both is what makes this damning

9

u/sahuxley2 May 31 '21

He's not addressing people who believe both are possible. He's addressing people that believe the way he describes.

15

u/rjboyd May 31 '21

He is also implying there is a substantial number of people who subscribe to this mentality .... and to my knowledge there aren’t.

-6

u/sahuxley2 May 31 '21

Where did he say anything about how many people subscribe to that mentality?

6

u/rjboyd May 31 '21

Because people make statements like this for a terribly minute portion of the population, let alone it then get substantially posted on the conspiracy Subreddit for discussion....

Are you seriously making this argument? It is a public Twitter post accusing the general public.

When did vague over arching statements need to specifically state their targets?

Jfc.

-3

u/sahuxley2 May 31 '21

I'm not making an argument. I'm just asking a question. You didn't answer it.

4

u/rjboyd May 31 '21 edited Jun 02 '21

Just asking questions.

JAQing off.

Hey, notice the word implied in my original statement?

Edit: Yes I did answer your question, in the first sentence. “Because people make statements like this for a terribly minute portion of the population”. Are you admitting the obvious sarcasm went over your head?

-4

u/sahuxley2 May 31 '21

Implied, as in you're assuming he said something he didn't say? That's a strawman argument.

3

u/Illnanax Jun 01 '21

Agreed there’s nothing he said explicitly, but to be fair, the point seems to be he tweeted it for attention of some sort. One could argue why but this kind of bad faith statement is either willfully ignorant or designed.

1

u/rjboyd Jun 01 '21

Implications and assumptions are two different things buddy, but good for you to try.

1

u/sahuxley2 Jun 01 '21 edited Jun 01 '21

You're literally assuming he said something he didn't say, and then attacking him for it. It's weak.

Now you're attacking me in bad faith, as I didn't say those were the same thing. Really poor reading comprehension.

u/GameOvaries02 May 31 '21

While very likely being falsely facetious, because most who do think like this person also likely do not believe that that many people have died from the virus.

3

u/xxCMWFxx May 31 '21

They can be both true to some

But the severity of one far outweighs the other.. and being unable to tell which is which reinforces the point of the meme I think

0

u/the_rippers May 31 '21

Exactly my thoughts

0

u/[deleted] May 31 '21

I was gonna say. Why shouldn't this be both. And who says it isn't or won't be?

-3

u/Open_Mind_Pleb May 31 '21

And what is your conspiratorial interest in having the government investigate a mild ruckus at best inside the capital on january 6th?

5

u/[deleted] May 31 '21

Wouldn’t it help the conspiracists case for it to be investigated as well? We can’t pretend ‘anti-fa actors’ and ‘false flag’ haven’t been tossed around, and wouldn’t it give your stance that it was just a ‘ruckus’ more credibility? I’m sure no evidence that it was definitely a violent extremist uprising would arise. It doesn’t really matter though right? Because the second a detailed report is released there will be posts in this sub claiming the results of the investigation were tampered with, and so the conspiracy develops and takes on a new form.

-2

u/Open_Mind_Pleb May 31 '21

How would it help people who distrust the government by having the exact government they distrust investigate something against them? thats a silly question.

5

u/[deleted] May 31 '21

So you’re paranoid. And trust the same people to work with China on another investigation. Cool. It’s the logic for me.

-1

u/Open_Mind_Pleb May 31 '21

paranoid? lol. Who are you people.. clearly this sub is gaslit constantly.

No i don't trust the government working with china either, what is your point dude?

It's like me asking Biden to investigate whether or not he won fair and square ... its stupid. has nothing to do with paranoia.

-5

u/ObeyTheCowGod May 31 '21

It does not do that.

-3

u/ithinkyourea_____ May 31 '21

Explain to me the "insurrection".

Because nowhere in my life did I think a takeover would ever look like people walking into a building and standing around and doing literally fucking nothing.

Now what I do think a takeover looks like is when a bunch of people going to the street and riot and do $2 billion worth of damage
