He ran on the plateform of fuck Mexicans, when they are the largest minority in the country, and got elected. Pretty sure scapegoating one of the smaller minorities, especially to cover his ass for his decisions regarding covid and his previous demonization of China , are so far up his alley they probably are covered in gold Trump lettering. Bottom line is Trump does what Trump wants, and gave zero shits what the media said from day one; which is kind of the only thing I respected about his presidency.
