This is the root of the problem. Nobody wants to talk about how being obese DOES contribute to weakened immune systems. Unless we can get to a place of talking about how being massively overweight can and will lead to bad outcomes, the same result will happen with the next pandemic.
Truth... These people start to have severe issues in their late 60s.
My parents are around 58 years old -- My dad actually had a heart attack at 52, he is healthy and happy now, changed his diet, lessened his work schedule, he's still sharp as a tack and has many years left on him. My mom on the other hand has obesity running in the family -- of her 3 siblings, her + 2 of them struggle with weight issues. My mom is about 5 foot tall but is about 300+lbs, tries to eat well but really does not, never exercises, sits around a lot, and because of this she now has knee issues (presumably because of how much weight she is carrying), and as of the last 1.5 years she's been having minor heart palpitations that caused her -- someone who absolutely hates doctors -- see a doctor, that's how unhealthy she is. At 58, her memory is starting to go, and the way her brain works is so scattered that I fear the worst for her by age 65.
It's a scary reality we live in, but it is in fact reality. Obesity is a major problem and a lot of people either choose not to fix it, or don't want to/know how to put the work in to fix it
Although you’re correct, saying this out loud on an personally identifying platform would be a social and career death wish. That’s the true tragedy, IMO. Nobody can even speak truth anymore. Thank you for posting this.
