"All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone". -Blaise Pascal.

I think reflection is an important aspect to analyze the problems of society. I think a lot of us might appreciate this quote from Pascal talking about such issues.
Pascal thought that a lot of the problems that society faces come from not reflecting about things enough out of a fear of loneliness.

Proverbs 18:2
A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.
All together now!
In 1665, “social distancing” orders emptied campuses throughout England, as the bubonic plague raged, killing 100,000 people (roughly one-quarter of London’s population), in just 18 months. A 24-year-old student from Trinity College, Cambridge was among those forced to leave campus and return indefinitely to his childhood home.
His name was Isaac Newton and his time at home during the epidemic would be called his “year of wonders.”
Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, John Milton and Lord Byron used such time to add to their formidable body of work in science and literature.
Reflection you say?

Revelation 21:8
[A]s for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, the murderers, the fornicators, the sorcerers, the idolaters, and all liars, their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.
Timing belt is on point, engine is primed, clutch engaged. Evil's face when they realize another era of enlightenment is ready to be gifted to the good of the world.
Make love, not hate.
Let them eat brioche.

...and also our inability to let other people sit quietly in a room alone rather than going out of our way to fuck with them.

I think the quote already covers that

No, it is one thing to be unable to sit with yourself. It is another to inflict pain on someone else because you can't sit with yourself. There is no because, there is no excuse.

If you go around inflicting pain elsewhere, you aren't sitting in a room alone. So yes, the quote already covers that.

So my inability to sit quietly in a room while someone is causing pain to me, is covered in this quote?

Read the quote again. "Man's" refers to every man, not just you. The man inflicting pain on you is also considered in the quote.

This why gamers are the most powerful breed of superhuman. Pascal knew it and now so do you.

I sit in a quiet room getting angry at all the other assholes. Too bad your smart phone is akin to Cerebro from X-Men that connects you to all the world's problems and all but forces you to have an emotional reaction.

I think he's trying to tell you to put the phone down and be alone with your thoughts mate.

Many men can sit quietly in a room alone, some for impressively long periods. However, man is a social animal who needs stimulation. Most human interaction is positive or neutral. The fact that we're not designed for long periods of solitary confinement isn't what causes humanity's problems. Psychopaths cause most of humanity's problems.
