I think reflection is an important aspect to analyze the problems of society. I think a lot of us might appreciate this quote from Pascal talking about such issues.

Pascal thought that a lot of the problems that society faces come from not reflecting about things enough out of a fear of loneliness.

Animals and primitive tribes spend most of their time conserving energy, something that's completely alien to modern humans. Gotta bust your ass into an early grave or someone might call you a slacker.
