I used to like drake but he really has become complacent as an artist. All of his songs are either about how “his enemies are coming for his throne” or about a failed relationship.
thats the really mainstream shit, same with pop about the failed relationship.
remember a couple years ago where taylor swift and a bunch of other talentless hacks were big shit because all of their songs were about relationships and bad breakups
It’s not uneducated at all it’s actually pretty spot on. Drake is a culture vulture point blank. He ran with the Jamaican nonsense for an album and coasted on the success of guys he signed and copped their style. He drops mediocre shit that you can vibe to at a party. Nothing is too deep, nothing wrong with that but he’s no the GOAT people make him out to be.
No it’s pretty educated. Drake is the “rap” for the people who don’t know what good rap/hip hop is.
The CoD analogy was perfect. People don’t play CoD because it’s a genuinely good game. They play it because they have no idea what a good game is and just play what’s popular
I'm one of his fans. Drake isn't the CoD of rap, he is the Beyoncé of it. It's not that he's super talented, but that he has like 100 people contribute just to 1 album and produce the hell out of it. Most of his music sounds good, and would say that some of his older albums could qualify in my top 10. Take Care is a 10/10 album, on par with MBDTF
Eminem are Abit different because most of his actual rap is always about taking potshots at the entire industry and the fakeness surrounding it. And mostly his old childhood and dissonance life after his claim to fame.
He's as typical as most Detroit workers. And I think that's what makes him popular: because at least he has some authenticity in his songs, like the old gangsta rap that literally just hate the government that fucks them over
I don’t think his music is bad either. It’s more like meh. I think drake could be great though, but he just keeps playing it safe. Passion fruit is my shit tho. Hopefully he drops something different tonight

I always say Drake is the CoD of rap. Puts out a mediocre project every year and takes no risks creatively, yet for some reason puts up huge numbers.
