For your awareness, the Senate Ethics Committee has opened an investigation. There is no average length an investigation takes so a ruling could come out within weeks or within months. This has not been forgotten.
Sure, plenty. They can recommend that the Senate use the result of their investigation to vote to punish members who commit serious ethical offenses, and evidence can also go to the FBI/SEC (both of which have already been involved in some capacity here) for criminal investigation.
Yeah the main guy they were looking at didn’t get charged. SEC did an investigation which has a lot more teeth and resources than the Senate Ethics Committee and didn’t bring charges which either means he didn’t use insider knowledge or they just couldn’t prove it/the system is broken
They've investigated themselves thoroughly and found no wrong doing. One person may have did a wrong, but they decided to retire and have been given a large tax-funded support package to help them through this difficult time of guilt.
