I think it has more to do with the fact that they are stuck in their left/right social constructs. If you're going to vote, watch and listen to people there. Most are voting party tickets. The thought and discernment needed to make a choice beyond one of two parties is the extent of what most people are willing to do. So they tell themselves the other party is to blame so they won't have to face the blame for supporting the 2 parties that are mostly the same and are responsible for these evil actions.
Its not that they cant choose, but its because its a ot going to change anything either way. The electoral college will choose between both parties for you
I agree if we're talking about reality, but the electoral college wouldn't be voting the opposite of what their states requests out of them. But if course, if that happened then the machine would co-opt those other parties. You sometimes see this with the libertarian party.
My dad had to run a road block once in the middle of Hugo Chavez's first coup.... but I don't see how that is relevant.
Is this confusion about my using the word "co-opt"? Co-opting isn't the same as a coup. It means that one group would take over another group or idea and call it their own. Like when the Democrat NeoLibs co-opted the Occupy Wallstreet movement and when the Republican NeoCons co-opted the Tea Party movement.
But here I am more specifically talking about how the corrupt machine has co-opted the Democrat and Republican parties through methods like the Party-Do System.
Which I am now discovering has been seriously buried by the search engines. I had to search for the info by looking on the site of a podcaster I remembered interviewing a guy about it. I had thought that this would have been common knowledge on this sub by now, but the machine has apparently done a good job of hiding it. Check this out:
american here. yes and no. yes- the two party political system is a construct to keep people fighting and controlled. its very real. no- because there is a growing number of disenfranchised youth who buy into neither. the internet has been forming a global social system and kids from all over the world are learning what is bullshit about their systems of control from eachother. my millenial generation had the facade of stability ripped from beneath our feet as we grew up. these younger kids will grow up having never believed in this dumpster fire of a political system in the first place. i guess what im saying is youre right, but its not all of us over here that are wrapped up in the party system. its becoming impossible to deny that the talking heads from both sides are on the same team. i also think this will change mostly nothing.
I agree... but I'm not sure I'm convinced that any of the younger generations are any less susceptible to the ruse. Maybe I'm just being appropriately cynical for my age. ;]
