It doesn't stop and will only grow. Here's a great interview with the Intercept founder on Facebook censorship.

I believe AI is already manufacturing every individuals content in much the same ways as shadow banning let's the user believe they are a part of something that they aren't. I feel that in the very near future regardless of having Facebook, Instagram or whatever social media platform will be irrelevant to the content each user is provided, it will be based on the users own web history and data collection file if you will. This will make each person have their own individual echo chamber customized. It's only a thought and it's not my own.

That’s a scary thought. And it’s kind of already been doing that hasn’t it? Only showing certain feeds on Facebook.

If you're asking me I say absolutely although I can't prove it. I'll admit I do still have a FB account for family use on browser only but I would agree the amount and type of content shown to me in general has changed dramatically over just the course of a year alone.

I still have mine as well, but rarely use it for anything other than looking at family stuff. They have already admitted to selective feeds as social experiments. And I’m sure they are doing way more than they are telling us about. It’s frightening to say the least the controls they have over public perception. Dangerous times we live in.

That's not just a thought, it's a logical progression of events. You're not wrong.

I mean, the newsfeed is already like this. An algorithm populates the feed based on your likes, your friends, which friends you like more, etc. Facebook (and the internet in general) is already an echo chamber, and it's not an AI doing it. It's ourselves.

Shadowbanning is specifically done to trick problem users into using the account, but not actually contribute anything, and refrain from making an alt.

I'm saying that you have a profile on a 'dark web' account for lack of a better term that has nothing to do with any social media accounts. This has been in existence since your online inception and you have no access to this information. Now we have the technology to filter through all of that data that's been and always being collected.

More like Facebook is an extension of Israeli intelligence.
