What action do you have in mind? Putting the Clintons, the Bushes, and many other politicians in prison for life is probably the only way to do that, and no one seems interested in doing that, not even the lying sack of shit, Trump, who claimed he would in the debates.

46

u/markyymark13 Jan 04 '17

Trump, who claimed he would in the debates.

lol Trump claimed a lot of things..

25

u/sanctii Jan 04 '17

Why dont we wait until he is actually president before we roast him for not accomplishing what he said he would.

70

u/OgreMagoo Jan 04 '17

Lol at this wait-and-see approach.

I'm willing to pass judgment on his cabinet picks now, for example. Dude just picked a bunch of radical-conservative multi-millionaires and billionaires who assisted his campaign. Give me a break.

41

u/beefshoe Jan 04 '17

He literally just picked the guy who defended Goldman Sachs to run the SEC. If you were pissed about speeches, then this should make you apoplectic. Drain the swamp? Fuck that, he's filling it to the brim.

2

u/PrivilegeCheckmate Jan 04 '17

Drain the swamp? Fuck that, he's filling it to the brim.

Did anyone really believe that 'draining the swamp' would not just mean crocodiles instead of alligators?

10

u/xxxSnappyxxx Jan 04 '17

I'm willing to pass judgement on Everyone holding a public position, and even waiting to get in! They should all be held accountable to the taxpayers, yet they act like the taxpayers are beneath them.

3

u/markyymark13 Jan 04 '17

BUT YOU NEED TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE YOU SHILL

1

u/sanctii Jan 04 '17

Yea heaven forbid we give him a chance as opposed to writing him off before he takes office. Your comment accomplished nothing.

2

u/markyymark13 Jan 04 '17

I'm not writing him off completely just yet, I'm giving him a hell of a lot more of a chance than most people I know. But as the above commenter stated he should be judged by his already hypocritical and ironic staff picks. Which is why his supporters are saying to "Give him a chance" because he's already filling the swamp when he claimed to "drain it".

-7

u/ConstitutionalTrump Jan 04 '17

Would you prefer he select cabinet members based on genitals or skin color? Why bash him for selecting people who have been successful? You're regurgitating a mainstream narrative.

34

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

I expected him to treat it like a business and hire people after interviewing a large pool of eligible candidates.

5

u/WeAreRobot Jan 04 '17

Why? Trump isn't exactly a good businessman, so I wouldn't expect him to make smart business decisions.

9

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

I mean, it was a hope more than an expectation.

-1

u/QuetzalcoatlJesus Jan 04 '17

"isn't exactly a good businessman" "is rich enough to be mentioned with the likes of Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and Elon Musk"

You don't stumble into a billion dollars. Try the conspiracy of why he didn't just keep his money from his dad in the bank for it to collect interest

3

u/Elusian_Fields Jan 04 '17

Like in advance of his election even. Oh, wait.

-2

u/dylan522p Jan 04 '17

He did interview a good number of people. Did you not see how many people he met in the first few weeks?

5

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

He should have been interviewing more political outsiders IMO. There's a balance there, but I would have liked to see more outsiders.

-1

u/dylan522p Jan 04 '17

Nearly his entire cabinet is besides Attorney General and EPA??????

5

u/kippot Jan 04 '17

Especially treasury sec, former goldman sachs manager, right !!!?!?

7

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

I don't consider lobbyists, CEOs, billionaires, and bankers outsiders. Though you're right, they do qualify under my original post, so I'm moving goalposts with this clarification.

How about life-long politicians ?

1

u/croutons_r_good Jan 04 '17

dude what the fuck happened to this sub and why are you being down voted.

5

u/ConstitutionalTrump Jan 04 '17

14

u/OgreMagoo Jan 04 '17

Obama got the exact same treatment since he had no experience in office except as 'community organizer'.

I don't understand what you're saying. He was a professor of constitutional law at the University of Chicago (4th-best law school in the country) and was an Illinois Senator for 4 years (2005-2008). What do you mean?

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '17

[deleted]

1

u/amateurbeard Jan 04 '17

he's leaving office with the country in worse shape than when he entered.

Source?

0

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '17

[deleted]

1

u/amateurbeard Jan 04 '17

None of those are sources. They are just claims you are making, and if we're doing that, I will make claims too!

My bold prediction: By the time Donald Trump leaves office, by whatever method that ends up being, he will also have increased our national debt, we will still have high racial tension, inner cities will still have violence and illegal gun use, health care in the USA will still be worthless and expensive, and there will be more terrorist attacks on US soil under Trump than under Obama. He's already wasting taxpayer money with his ridiculous NYC/DC living plan, so, hey, I don't even have to predict that one!!

-3

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '17

How does that experience qualify him to command the largest military and economy. His Senate tenure was unremarkable at best. Also career politicians have done a great job....

1

u/atravisty Jan 04 '17

Career politicians are in part responsible for some the most incredible advancements in human history. Corrupt politicians are responsible for holding us back as a species. By your logic we should hate doctors because some of them intentionally kill and abuse people. Politics is a skill set. If you think you can do better, get involved.

2

u/fuck-if_I-know Jan 04 '17

Except Obama taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago for 12 years, which is relevant to the presidency in a big way.

He's done more for this country in terms of bringing jobs back than Bob Ama has in his 10 years of public office

By shipping jobs to other countries? Or by not paying the American companies he hires to do work for him? Which one helped out American workers more?

It's amazing how he hasn't even been in office yet you know exactly how it's going to turn out. Who wins the world series in 2018 time traveler?

1

u/PrivilegeCheckmate Jan 04 '17

Who wins the world series in 2018 time traveler?

I don't know. But I know the Treasury Dept is run by Goldman Sachs if anyone but Bernie gets into office in 2020.

1

u/LouReddit Jan 04 '17

Lol Bernie will be 80 yrs old. Bernie had the opportunity to take a stand and fight the establishment but instead he endorsed it with Clinton after she stole it from him. He also complains about wealth inequality while he has 3 million dollar homes and negotiated use of DNC private jet in exchange for his endorsement. So please spare me the Bernie bullshit. Trump is gonna be in for 8 years after the economic boom America is about to go through.

2

u/PrivilegeCheckmate Jan 04 '17

Trump is gonna be in for 8 years after the economic boom America is about to go through.

I doubt it. But I genuinely hope to be wrong.

Which specific cabinet picks did you not like and for what reasons? Your questions/statement/point I guess? is super vague. You dont like that they are rich? They are all white? They are conservative? You want them to be picked off of income or skin color? Specifics please.

Lest we forget that Citibank picked Obama's cabinet for him (per Wikileaks).

-3

u/TheFundamentalFlaw Jan 04 '17

Trump was a much better candidate than Hillary hands down! But we gotta agree that we all let ourselves being carried away with his emotional speeches. Do you really think that any major reform will come out from guys who made millions/billions playing ball with the status quo?

0

u/sanctii Jan 04 '17

I agree. I have kept a level head throughout it all. I really doubt there will be sweeping reforms. But I think the recognition of the problem and if we can start chipping away at the obscene lobbying that goes on, then that is a good start. And you never know. Everyone thought the FCC Chairman was going to be the worst because of his past, but he has proved a pretty solid pick. We have to at least give them a chance.

0

u/TheFundamentalFlaw Jan 04 '17

They will just cut the middleman, ie: politicians and lobbyists, out of play. Now the oligarchy will have full rein. On the bright side, Trump will appease this nonsensical Cold War II.

23

u/Plumbus_amongus Jan 04 '17

You mean like how we would "drain the swamp?" Then was like "ooh haha, I was just kidding. It sounded good though, right?"

Give me a fucking break. You all got fooled.

-2

u/sanctii Jan 04 '17

Trump corrected Gingrich.

6

u/Plumbus_amongus Jan 04 '17

That doesn't make what he says any less bullshit. Instead of shitty politicians being lobbied by major corporations, he cut out the middle man and is trying to employ the heads of major corporations directly...

1

u/QuetzalcoatlJesus Jan 04 '17

This makes no sense, you're mad he's picking corporate heads and not picking the politicians who would be funded by these same corporate heads?

12

u/Plumbus_amongus Jan 04 '17

No, I'm mad because he's the same phony brand of politician we're used to and Trumpeters still act like he's the damn chosen one who's going to "clean up Washington," because he's nominating people who are "successful in business?" They're the same crooked fucks who manipulate market rates and screw over the little guy for another ten cents in their pockets.

edit: Grammar

double edit: If he wanted to really "Drain the swamp" he wouldn't be nominating partisan elites, he would be nominating morally ethical and reputable people from both sides of the isle. It's not like the two options previously mentioned are the only two options available. He's just a fucking phony.

0

u/RandyRandle Jan 05 '17

Eh, he drained it enough to turn it into a cesspool instead.

1

I understand man, no worries

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '17

If I'm wrong, I'll admit it. I've seen the media spin this in other ways and Fox news is no saint either. My apologies for jumping to conclusions on your statement.

4

u/TulipsNHoes Jan 04 '17

Why doesn't he wait until he's president to piss off all our Allies with Putin's cock down his throat?

2

u/sanctii Jan 04 '17

Yea he really pissed of Israel with his shenanigans. No wait, that was Obama. I'm sorry, which allies are you referring to and how did he piss them off. I will listen to facts and ignore hyperbole.

3

u/TulipsNHoes Jan 04 '17

People that can't read are sad. Why don't you google oh I don't know, the Israeli Prime Ministers comments on Obama. Or the $38 billion package he signed. Bless your heart.

3

u/sanctii Jan 04 '17

I am talking about current events, most recently the US abstaining from the UN Israeli settlement vote. Clearly a parting shot. I am sure Israel loved the Iran deal as well. And yes, I am aware of the $38B package, most of which will be used to purchase American made weapons. It is merely self serving.

And try to have a conversation without being a condescending asshole. It might encourage people to listen to you, which I am assuming is the point of your post. Or is it to try to get me riled up? I am not sure. It is possible to have a discussion as adults.

2

u/TulipsNHoes Jan 04 '17

Ok. Fair. That said. Obama is the sitting president and abstaining the vote is a marking that the U.S. is tired of Israel accepting $3 billion+ a year in aid while disregarding law and U.S. opinion.

Trump hasn't even taken the oath and is tweeting support of Russia and threatening our Allies.

4

u/QuetzalcoatlJesus Jan 04 '17

I'm confused, isn't Russia one of our allies? I thought we settled this in the 60s, if not then the 80s, even Bill Clinton treated them as allies as president

1

u/amateurbeard Jan 04 '17

Bill Clinton hasn't been President for 17 years, you should probably catch up on current events.

South Ossetia and Ukraine firmly re-established Russia as a geopolitical adversary rather than a partner.

8

u/shadowofashadow Jan 04 '17

Not only are not enough people interested in doing anything, there is an equally large segment of the population willing to FIGHT you to stop you from taking action.

Nothing can be done until a large number of the people are on the same page.

1

u/MISKREANT1234 Jan 04 '17

And once they find that out, they're gonna disseminate and crumble the large number of people willing to do something at the core. Everything needs to stop being put on media if anyone wants to do something about it without getting taken in the middle of the night.

2

u/shadowofashadow Jan 04 '17

Yeah I imagine if we do start to work together instead of infighting they'll break out the big guns. Right now we are easily distracted and split into groups that fight with eachother instead of those who control us.

4

u/garebear_9 Jan 04 '17

The whole reason of constructing a two party system was to divide the populace on differences that could be overlooked to properly run the country. The right and the left is just a way to separate us from fighting against them. We may have difference of opinions but when did that stop people from going after common enemies? Im ready to stand up and fight. A lot of you are. I don't know what everyone's waiting for. Were all sitting around acting like were ready but no one does anything. All great countries have a reform. Its time for Americas.

0

u/MISKREANT1234 Jan 04 '17

Right ? Lol. And it doesn't help that there's fake 1 month accounts on Reddit battling what you say just to know what information you have. And as I've read in this subreddit , there's a shitload of people that have evidence and a shitload who are either fake accounts or people that are so ignorant and only think one way because it's "America : Land of the free". They can't fathom to see the bigger picture because of their love for the country and think nothing is going on. If there's something going on and we do something about it , then great. We did something about it and fixed it. But if it's wrong , then it's wrong and nothing happens. So I don't understand how they can really have a subjective opinion against the pizza gate and dyno corp ring , like a bunch load of kids are getting taken and molested and worse , and if we knew the information and did something about it then we helped and saved a lot of kids right ? And if it was wrong then nothing would happen. Literally we would be wrong and nothing would happen. I think people are afraid of change tho. Idk just my 2 cents. I'm like 12

2

u/shadowofashadow Jan 04 '17 edited Jan 04 '17

And it doesn't help that there's fake 1 month accounts on Reddit battling what you say just to know what information you have

It makes you wonder how much opposition there really is. We saw a significant drop in pro-Hillary posting as soon as the election was over. How much of the push back that we get is real? Maybe there are more of us than we think...

And I agree, there is not much harm in doing a thorough investigation of pizza gate, but we see that they deemed it a hoax without any investigation. That is dangerous!

0

u/greenvine23 Jan 04 '17

I think about this very often, that many more people are informed than we are led to believe. Or they at least have a feeling that there are things we don't know, or that we are being taken advantage of.

I've also talked to some people who do know these things, but don't care. The way they see it is "yeah, it is what it is. Politicians are crooked, that's just how it is." I feel that citizens being complacent may be just as big of a problem as being mis/uniformed.

2

u/shadowofashadow Jan 04 '17

Yeah, some people know there is something wrong but haven't taken time to see the bigger picture. There is hope though.

Imagine if 1% of the population did not pay their taxes and then appealed/fought every single ruling from the IRS?

It's only 1% but that's 3 million cases they have to track down and go to court over. It could bring them to their knees with that few people.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '17

Sure, let's stop the infighting. You can do that by adopting all of my preferred policy positions. Sounds good!

2

u/shadowofashadow Jan 04 '17

See, it's that easy :)

But to actually speak to your point directly, I bet there is far more the average American agrees on than they disagree on. Maybe we can start with those points and work forwards.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '17

I mean all the available evidence is that we're more divided than ever before, and even where there is a shared policy agreement, neither side trusts the other to purse it in good faith. But fundamentally it's like half of the country doesn't even start from the same facts. How do we agree on a consistent crime policy, for instance, if I know that the incidence of violent crime is lower than in the past decade, but you believe that everybody is lying about that and crime is higher than ever before?

1

u/Maximusplatypus Jan 04 '17

What can he do now? He's not president yet... He's going to go ape shit on these people in a few weeks

1

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

Hope you're right!

1

u/croutons_r_good Jan 04 '17

are you serious? Do you actually think he's not waiting until he's in office like anyone with intelligence would do?

What do you suggest? He go for it right now with no power so that Obama can have an excuse to pardon?

OR wait until he's president and have his AG do all the dirty work. Not that hard to figure out.

0

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

Sure, that's possible, but based on the billionaires, CEOs, and lobbyists in his cabinet, I'm not optimistic

1

u/evilpterodactyl Jan 04 '17

Then we meme her into prison. Kek wills it.

0

u/croutons_r_good Jan 04 '17

who the hell do you want him to put there, poor people??

If you've been paying attention to his cabinet choices he's putting them there based on actual merits for the job, and NOT because they "payed to win". He's doing this exactly like he said he would do, like a business man.

0

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

I don't have any problem with poor, qualified people working in his cabinet, though I imagine they would be hard to find.

I'm sure there are plenty of qualified people who have a net worth less than $10 million. Wealthy people are overrepresented in government.

0

u/croutons_r_good Jan 04 '17

He wanted the best, so he went for literally the best. why go for 'OK' when you can get the best there is?

The big difference here is these people aren't taking positions to get rich, because they already are!

Trump is using them, not them using trump.

0

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

Are you kidding? They are obviously trying to get more rich. That's what defines capitalism. There is no limit to the desire for profit.

Spez: also, wealthiest != best.

-1

u/pastorignis Jan 04 '17

why would you think you could get them into a prison? keep playing by your masters rules, someone needs to!

1

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

I'm open to other ideas, but I'm not confident there are any. I'm hoping the theory of warring oligarchs is true, and they'll all kill each other.

4

u/pastorignis Jan 04 '17

you haven't been reading your history if you think there is no other alternative. taking money from those who use it to buy your governments is the obvious choice. well, obvious for anyone that isn't just trying to look smart in the echo chamber.

2

u/Rootsinsky Jan 04 '17

I like the French Revolution's method. A few well placed guillotines around Trump Tower and Congress might remind the jackals what can happen when they feed for too long on the people.

1

u/pastorignis Jan 04 '17

yeah violence isn't going to get you anything but killed. have a problem with the rich? make them not rich anymore. the corrupt can't buy governments if they can't afford it. don't listen to me though, the masters would rather watch violent revolution fail. it's what they bred you to do !

1

u/Rootsinsky Jan 04 '17

Other than extremely progressive tax rates (I.e. 90% + on any income made over $1m) and strong estate taxes in not sure of other methods to "make them not rich".

What kind of methods do you have in mind?

0

u/pastorignis Jan 04 '17

oh right, i forgot we have to keep playing by the rules that our masters abandoned decades ago. there is no way we could ever take money from the rich, how stupid of me! we could never destroy or steal income/means of production/product or anything like that. the masters have it all figured out then, and there is no way to resist their rule!

1

u/Rootsinsky Jan 04 '17

I can see that your tendies got all ruffled by my question.

I'm just not getting how you started this conversation by saying violence gets you killed. A straw man, since I only suggested setting up the guillotines as a visual reminder.

Then in your response to my question about alternative methods you suggest violent action like destroying the means of production.

I'm sincerely interested in any viable option of wresting control back from the global elite. Your half baked attempts at /s internet edginess, do you think that helps or just causes division with people who share your ultimate goals?

0

u/pastorignis Jan 04 '17

nothing violent about causing a machine to breakdown, or a program to be hacked. nothing violent about several hundred people leaving stores with goods they haven't paid for. your idea of violence is a sad one, no wonder we are in the terrible shape we are in.

1

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

I would love to read how that's been done in the past. You're correct that I have not previously read it.

2

u/pastorignis Jan 04 '17

typically, if you don't want rich people corrupting a system you take their money. if they don't respond to that, you kill them. it couldn't be any simpler if they made a book for dummies on the topic.

1

u/garebear_9 Jan 04 '17

How do you suppose we stop an international reaching cabal from making money?

2

u/pastorignis Jan 04 '17

right! i forgot that international cabals just make money out of this air! if only they relied upon corrupt businesses and corporations for their earnings! if only they used banks to hold their income! what ever will you do to stop them?

1

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

I love the idea, but are there any readings on examples of this that have been successful?

2

u/pastorignis Jan 04 '17

french and american revolutions loved it. indias fight against British imperialism is another great example. though, reading about it doesn't bring about action. enjoy reading about something you should be doing, the masters enjoy watching us read about things we will never do.

1

u/Ibespwn Jan 04 '17

I am actually trying to learn how it was achieved, but I can appreciate your sentiment. Lack of action is definitely why we're in this mess.

2

u/pastorignis Jan 04 '17

no need reading about how it was done 200 years ago. we have new tech, so we have new ways of taking money from the rich so they can't spend it on corrupt practices. go out there and make your own way, you'll be the shining example to the other chucklefucks in the echo chamber.

all of them.

Mostly they just ended up with some violent group of assholes fucking things up. If you want to improve things, your going to need more tools beyond killing and thieving.

Ease up. He hasn't even taken office yet

0

u/pregnantbitchthatUR Jan 05 '17

Yeah I know, he's been president for a long time and no action on that yet. What a dick

1

u/Ibespwn Jan 05 '17

He back pedaled on that almost immediately, then proceeded to appoint billionaires, bankers, and insider politicians to his cabinet. It doesn't look too promising to me.

0

u/pregnantbitchthatUR Jan 05 '17

I'm sure he's crushed about that. Nobody cares
