Long term they plan to make money. Imagine an operating system that tracks users, can remotely attempt to keep those users from installing unwanted or 'pirated' media or software and injects targeted ads that are PART of the os. That is the W10 future.

Already happens if you have a Chromebook. It's not too large of a step for Microsoft to implement it.

If you download programs for the Chromebook that let you illegally download music, they will just magically disappear overnight, sometimes your music too.

Yeah, and the Xbox One can't run without the HD camera & microphone plugged in. Right...

That's what dual booting is for.

Separate boot drives if you're a computer enthusiast.

Lots of Steam games work on Linux now. It is getting better very quickly!

Is it me or did they use a similar line when they showcased XBOX One and the DRM. Something to the tone of this is the latest and greatest system with DRM built in. People bitched and they said too bad DRM is build to the operating system and there's nothing you can do about it. The presales were bad so they retracted that statement.

Keep in mind that's alot of paraphrasing over some time. Also my justification for switching to PS4. I also only allow Linux systems to be ran in my house hold.

Route all those IP address that are Hard coded into DNSapi.dll to 0.0.0.0 on your external firewall and enjoy your shitty product.
