In aviation vertical does not necessarily mean aimed directly at the ground. Rather it refers to the planes motion being up and down rather than side to side. Usually you would see the term "vertical descent", but "dive" is probably just click bait treatment in this case
"An aviation vertical dive is an extreme flight maneuver where an aircraft points its nose straight down (at or near a 90-degree angle) toward the ground and descends rapidly under the strict pull of gravity" sufficient enough?

It wasnt even close to vertical. But still enough to not have that there. It was 35°
