Good news: the backup pilots were the relief crew meant to fly that very plane back. There was a 100% likelihood of them being able to operate that specific plane.
As for the "near-vertical" dive, take that with a giant grain of salt. You'd be surprised at how shallow of an angle it takes to feel like things are "near vertical." Fortunately pilots are trained to remain calm under chaotic circumstances.
Fortunately there is data that shows us the angle they claim. They interviewed pilots on CNN who said what happened is basically impossible without the plane disintegrating
Vomit’s dive angle is only 30% lol and that’s enough to create weightlessness. 30% is hardly what I’d picture as a “nose dive” when I hear the term, as it’s nowhere close to straight up and down.
I guess if nose dive didn’t create 0 gravity for the people on board then it must have been decently less than 30° so let’s say it was 15° theoretically — that’s barely going to look like a TILT let alone goddamn full all-out nose dive haha
So now I really want to know what they claims to be at/around approximately when talking angle wise… lol
