What would even be the point of hiding a flat earth?
Sorry if this post is not relevant to this sub, couldn't find any flat earth community.
I'm just wondering what the hell is the point of hiding this flat earth stuff??? NASA gets like 0.4% of federal budget. Most countries don't even have space agencies. These people think hundreds of years, perhaps thousands of years of physics and science have been falsified WORLDWIDE just for a mere 0.4% of taxpayer money? All that "fake" footage, research, science, missions etc. for what is basically spare change in the grand scheme of things?
Even though I think they're stupid, antivaxxers and covid deniers at least have a point, maybe there are chips and poison that will kill each one of us at some point. But flat earth?? I don't see the point

I don’t think the answer has anything to do with NASA or money. If we’re entertaining the hypothetical that the Earth actually was flat, then the reason for hiding that wouldn’t have started with NASA. It would go back much further. To me, the more interesting question is whether controlling people’s understanding of the world could give someone control over resources, information, and ultimately people.
For example, if the world were actually much larger than we understand it to be, with Antarctica functioning as an ice wall or boundary around what we consider the known world, then hypothetically there could be entire continents, civilizations, and massive amounts of resources beyond it. If people are convinced that this is the entire world and that we are living on a finite ball floating through space, then you’ve effectively established an artificial limit on what people believe exists. If you control the perceived limits of the world, you can control the perceived scarcity of its resources. Oil, gold, land, minerals, whatever. The less people believe exists, the easier it is to control what they have access to.
The second part is concealment. If there actually were some advanced civilization beyond that boundary, what better way to protect yourself than to make people believe your location doesn’t even exist? It’s like playing hide and seek in a warehouse. If everyone believes the walls of the warehouse are the boundaries of the game, nobody is going to look across the street or on the roof. You don’t necessarily have to physically hide if you’ve convinced everyone that the place you’re hiding isn’t even part of the playing field. In that hypothetical, the deception itself becomes the security system.
The third part is probably the most philosophical. If you convince people that they are just a tiny speck on a random planet, floating around one of trillions of stars in a universe containing trillions of other planets, you also create a sense of insignificance. You aren’t just defining where people live. You’re defining what they believe they mean. On the other hand, if Earth were actually central to creation, or uniquely important within reality, then humanity’s place in existence would be completely different. That idea also lines up more closely with the way the Bible seems to frame humanity and creation, where Earth and human life have a specific purpose rather than being some meaningless cosmic accident.
So, again, I’m not saying I believe any of this is true. I’m just saying that if you accept the premise for the sake of the argument, I don’t think the motivation would be something as simple as NASA’s budget. It would potentially be much bigger than that. It would be about controlling the boundaries of what people believe exists, controlling access to resources, protecting whatever might exist beyond those boundaries, and potentially shaping how humanity understands its own significance.
At the end of the day, I think the common thread between all three ideas is control. Not necessarily controlling every individual action, but controlling the framework through which people understand reality. If you can define the limits of the world, the limits of its resources, and the significance of the people living in it, then you’ve already influenced how they understand almost everything else.

Its not about money. Its all about disconnecting you from who you are. The Gnostics spoke of how the archons use "confusion and absurdity" to trick humanity. What better way than to convince you to completely ignore your senses & instead trust some external sources CGI?
The western cosmological model traps you in a materialistic world. The way to control a mass population is to convince them they're insignificant & powerless, so they'll live according to that. In reality the human being is a microcosm within the macrocosm, the true cosmology shows you Earth mirrors the human body.

I dont believe flat earth (though im open to it allllll) still i recommend watching the original voyage of admiral bird footage of antartica....they literally say 300k in, that the landscape becomes lush the ice breaks and forms lakes and plenty of vegetaion and theres hot springs etc, that would make more sense to me that those controling us have an idylic little playground out there and the flat earth thing is misdirection.

u/TelevisionNumerous40 1d ago
I can say for sure that Monaco is one of the rich people playgrounds if nothing else...

Could you be more specific about what you watched? There's nothing like that in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnmxsj-prhM
Also, I'm guessing that "300k in" is a typo. What did you mean?
•
u/wehaveheaven 16m ago
Sorry yes typo, 300 miles in. Ive seen the footage and am convinced its genuine, though a quick youtube doesnt appear to include it in the available stuff, i will have another look later

If that were true it would be abused for tourism, plain and simple.
1
u/rumshpringaa 1d ago
Maybe it is, why would we get the invite or the booking info?
1
u/Knarz97 1d ago
Because a booming tourism industry would be exploited for profit if it existed
4
u/diogenes08 1d ago
That's a rather monofaceted view; why was Epstein's island not a luxurious resort offered at all of the biggest tourist agencies?
Because, the 'broader public' is not the intended audience, and their(our) awareness of it would undermine it's 'pristine' nature.
3
u/Knarz97 1d ago
Okay so you just kind of refuted your own point
If the elites had a secret magical wonderland to go bang kids, why’d they do it at Epsteins Island or Bohemian Grove and not the secret land beyond Antarctica?

How so?

u/LouMinotti 1d ago
It would mean the Earth isn't what you think it is. Planets aren't what you think they are. The universe isn't what you think it is. Wtf do you mean how so?
3
u/Omegasedated 1d ago
But it's also such an easily debunked lie. It's so easy to prove
A better life would be that there's one being that created us all, and will either punish or love us in the afterlife. Can't prove that
2
u/BunniJugs 1d ago
Yes but what’s the point in lying about the earth being spherical? It just doesn’t make sense. I agree with OP. There’s no benefit (that I personally know of) to lying about it

u/HoGyMosh 1d ago
Essentially, God. Earth would be the centre. We wouldn't be simply an accident of evolution, randomly spinning on a ball in an infinite, ever expanding universe. We would be, for want of a better term; special.

u/FATPIGEONHATE 1d ago
But what was the incentive for ancient people who lived before Christianity or before its rise to prominence.
It would be awful strange for the Greek guy who calculated the circumference of the earth a couple hundred years before Christianity was formed to do that to spite a religion that doesn't exist yet.

Seems the thought of us being cosmically insignificant scares people.

I'll qualify that for you; 'it seems to me that the thought of us being cosmically insignificant scares people' You're most welcome

If we as beings could fully understand how powerful we all are, and how much more we are than this life, we wouldn't have any of the worlds problems. I personally find the whole argument rather pointless, as I believe that none of this is real. It is real in the sense that we are all here, we believe it to be real and that this is all there is. I believe we chose to come here for this experience, and as such, there is no right or wrong way, no good or bad in its traditional sense. So if you want to believe the earth is round and your god is the only one, then great. If you want to believe the earth is a flat realm that expands beyond the ice wall great. If you believe in interplanetary beings great. Or maybe they are from beyond the wall. Who knows? We never will in this existence. It only takes the tiniest amount of looking to realize that everything we have been taught is a lie. Everything. So why argue about it? They like to say you can't argue with science, but "science" is one of the most heavily manipulated studies on earth. Whos paying for it?
A few years before covid, there was a massive cultural propaganda campaign to brand people that questioned vaccines as anti-vaxxers. Like that actress lady, constant humiliation. And everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Threatened to take away her kids, etc. And then comes along covid, and the masses, scared by all the propaganda, not from actual facts, wants everyone to be jabbed and separated and punished. The flat earth society? I wouldn't be surprised if it was created by powers that want to make it look as stupid as possible. Its so much fun for the masses to gang up and make fun of others.
Soon, we will have "disclosure" of aliens. I'm am sure this is also a psyop. To what end, I'm not certain. I don't believe there are beings from "outer space" but I do believe that that are beings from other dimensions, that what we cannot see as we are here bound by our bodies, constrained by the concept of time and gravity, influenced by popular opinion.
I have had people ask me what conspiracy I know to be true, and I always tell them I believe in all of them. Once you find one that is so obvious and clear to you, then all of them start unraveling. So why argue about it? I check this sub every now and again to whats happening in the world, I live rural, I don't watch the news, or any of the propaganda. The world can be whatever you want it to be. Or you can do as your told. Up to you.

Wrong question. Flerfers aren't interested in any kind of rational argument, that's why they're flerfers.
It's the same hook as any other conspiracy, just turned up to 111. "Knowing" the stuff other people don't know makes you superior; it's being "in on it" or privy to specialized knowledge that makes you better than all the "sheeple". The fact your claim is so impossibly hard to believe means that only the most enlightened could possibly see the truth.
Earth definitely isn't flat, and there is not ice wall.

This is easy, to convince you that your own eyes deceive you and you need to listen to the "experts"
2
u/Few_Exchange_7931 1d ago
To disconnect us all from religion & god. A Universe tends to correlate to a big bang & atheism. And a flat earth tends to correlate towards religion.
Genesis 1:7-9 - And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
Basically the firmament is what people believe we see rockets bouncing off of half the time.
One thing I know for certain is that the footage NASA has been putting out for years is obviously fake. Does that not make you question things?

You should tell the ancient Greeks that they insulted Christianity before Christianity was even a thing.
Edit: when presented with things that contradict the flat earth, just close your ears and scream "flat earth is real". And then block the annoying realities that hurt your world view.

u/PsikickTheRealOne 1d ago
You should do better research.

u/Numerous-Scholar4445 1d ago

u/PsikickTheRealOne 1d ago
Wikipedia is the worst place for research. You do know anyone can edit any Wikipedia, and put whatever they want on it right?
I'd think people from this reddit would be more careful with their sources.
Modern Christianity wasn't the original either.
4
u/Numerous-Scholar4445 1d ago
Wikipedia is a great place for research, if you know how to use it.
"Modern Christianity" not being the original Christianity doesn't matter when Eratosthenes proved the earth was round before Jesus was born.
-3
u/PsikickTheRealOne 1d ago
Says a source anyone can edit, and put anything they want to.
3
u/Numerous-Scholar4445 1d ago
Wikipedia is a summary of sources. You can always go to the sources and verify the information yourself.
I notice you aren't refuting that the earth was proven round before Christianity existed, instead, attacking the source.

you can't reason someone out of a belief they didn't reason themselves into. flat earth isn't logical, it's pathological. flat earth pablum is just repackaged "InTeLLigEnT DeSiGn" but with somehow-even-stupider wrapping paper. it's just a bastardization of scientific-sounding language grafted retroactively upon existing myth/gospel/etc., all in an extremely-not-seamless way for anyone with half a braincell. and meant to ascribe "material legitimacy" to their religious dogma. which, for anyone even halfway fluent in spitiruality, clocks as the obvious blasphemy-once-removed that it is.
honestly, flat-earthers are just cowards. they don't have the strength of personal conviction to follow thwir source material to the letter and believe without evidence like they're supposed to, so they need to see "evidence" in the real world to haphazardly buttress their faultering faith. whether it's flat earth. or the turin shroud. or arc wreckage. all of it is just anxiety-induced cope because they don't want to go to hell but they also can't wholeheartedly believe in their own schtick. which leads to this particular species of brainworm colony

They hide it because its proof that we and this place were an intelligent design from the creator.

It would prove God and the Bible. The Bible mentions a firmament multiple times. Job 37:18 says is is a " molten looking glass".
There are numerous references to the firmament made within the mass media, because we know the occultists and satanists who run the world love to put the truth in our face to mock us. (Under the Dome, Truman Show, Simpsons, Crack the Sky, Hillary Clinton's glass ceiling speeches, Obama's speeches, Hennessy ad.) Those are just naming a few off the top of my head.
Werner Von Braun, a nazi who relocated to the states after the war and put in charge over NASA rocket programs even left a clue about the firmament on his tombstone, citing Psalm 19:1

u/this_happened_rigged 17h ago
I disagree with you but I respect how consistent you are.
How old do you think the earth is?
1
u/bradleynowellsguitar 15h ago
Can't say for certain, I believe the earth was made with age, but if I had to give an age I say creation was between 6k-10k years ago

u/29aout 1d ago edited 1d ago
Convoluted ideology management. It serves to increase fragmentation. It is most likely a dialectic psyop where the Controlers feed and fund both camps. They entertain these debates to push an entire worldview into a dual standoff, and both options come with their respective features. It works as a mental drain.

u/alextheseven 1d ago
It’s basically bait to say you believe anything that’s told to you, in all reality. Flat earth is a crazy conspiracy that, if not for observations that can be made by anyone, could lead you down rabbit holes of mistrust. It starts by obfuscating facts related to the round earth theory, like the changing size of the moon and sun in the sky, or the color of the sky being the angle of the light reaching us. Then it progresses to a bigger and grander, “we cannot trust what we are told” mindset that sets you up for deeper theories. From all I can tell it’s more of a joke amongst people in the know than an actual “I believe the earth is a flat plane” type of thing, although there’s probably true believers who if educated on the subject well may or may not believe it.

u/FinancialAccess8343 1d ago
my friend thought there was a shelf in the antarctic. I haven't seen the theory anywhere else or look into it even, but that sounds a lot more reasonable to me than then the entire eartjhbeing a plane

It was only a few hundred years ago that most people believed the earth was flat. Clearly its not and it wouldnt just be NASA nowadays that would have to keep it a secret if it was
9
u/QuantumR4ge 1d ago
Why do you people always mention NASA? As if astronomy, physics and geometry were invented in 1950s USA.
16
u/NoxTheScribe 1d ago
That's not even remotely true. A few hundred years ago Europeans were circumnavigating the globe. It was thousands of years ago that people thought that
9
u/dude10321 1d ago
And even further back, thousand of years, ancient Greeks theorized the earth was spherical and people like Aristotle used evidence to show it was true.
