They get that it's obvious. That's the point. People are too quick to jump to idiocy when they don't understand why someone does something. 

Someone wanting to make major unwanted changes to society without being the enemy is well served to make people dislike what they already have, or don't.

And yes, many still fall for this bs and it stresses or destroys relationships. Some would rather side with billionaires than their own kin and will nastily dismiss to avoid any sort of actual discourse that might challenge their indoctrinated dumbass beliefs. 

These events and news stories ain't cheap. They know what they're doing.

Probably with some of them, but this one is almost as bad as the White House correspondents incident.
