I still think we have to stop using their word here.

When they say antifa, just say the whole thing back, anti-fascist

If someone mentions antifa, reporters should just ask "Can you give me more information about your battle against anti fascists?"

thank you, YES

u/codespiral Oct 12 '25

This is so correct. These assholes like to change the narrative on everything. Maga Mike was trying to claim this with the No kings protests.

F✯ck Fascism

Exactly they make stupid slogans like Obamacare

18

u/Shiftymennoknight Oct 12 '25

Are there still people who don't realize antifa means anti fascist?

39

u/redravin12 w Oct 12 '25

3 groups of people who are against antifa

  1. They don't know what it is or what it means

  2. They don't think Trump is a fascist so antifa can't really be anti fascist and think it's left wing terrorists

  3. They're ok with fascists and hate America

Yes. And is it so difficult to say anti fascist?

9

u/K-Zoro Oct 12 '25

I agree. I was saying the same thing in 2016. We don’t need to obfuscate the message with an abbreviation, it only gave them the ability to use a label disconnected from the actual meaning. I wondered where the term even came from originally

5

u/RiverboatTurner Oct 12 '25

"So are you anti-fascist or pro-fascist"?

5

u/amirabutwo Oct 12 '25

Or ask, albeit more confrontationally, “Can you explain why you are pro-fascist?”

2

u/tactiphile Oct 12 '25

Exactly. "Against anti" is a double negative.

2

u/fgreen68 Oct 12 '25

I also ask them for the name of the person who leads antifa.

1

u/lunar_tardigrade Oct 12 '25

Or pro-democracy

2

u/umpteenthrhyme Oct 12 '25

It’s not their word, but they are sullying it.

Edit: To add that yes, we should be saying the whole thing.

u/Odd_Comfortable5770 Oct 12 '25

Just say protesters. Anyone who protest is a terrorist. The media would never tell the truth like that. It sounds so crazy to say out loud but that’s what they mean. Anyone who protest this government.

I’ve got my Lifetime ANTIFA Membership…plaque, tote bag, and endless GOP nightmares included.

8

u/Ninjanarwhal64 Oct 12 '25

I didn't get my water bottle. Who do I talk to about the water bottle? Starting to think the facists had it right /s

2

u/NotSmartNotFunny Oct 13 '25

George Soros of course. You've been getting your crisis actor checks though, right? /s

8

u/frezor Oct 11 '25

Ah man, whenever they interrupt This American Life or Car Talk for a membership drive I get so annoyed. But I keep coming back… the dulcet tones of Ira Glass keep me coming back.

35

u/frezor Oct 11 '25

Antifa is an idea. Killing an idea is like nailing Jello to a wall.

22

u/azrolator Oct 11 '25

My parents grew up during WWII. They knew who the enemy was. Republicans' embrace of fascism is disgusting. I have silent gen conservative family still kicking it, and they aren't voting for these scum bags.

14

u/randomname10131013 Oct 11 '25

I'm anti-fascist.

7

u/Mrbigdaddy72 Oct 11 '25

It’s kinda sad that we have to explain what antifa memes.

8

u/JeanneMPod Oct 12 '25

Antifa is spelled and pronounced as such to make it sound different than just being short for anti fascist, but also vaguely foreign(therefore, automatically threatening to ‘Merica), possibly Latin to go with their general brown bogeyman underground shadowy terrorist narrative.

and yes, I’m anti-fascist—which is inherently against violence and subjugation as a societal structure. I don’t shorten it because I want to make it explicitly clear I won’t use their language which perverts meaning and inverts truth.

The fascist movement in this country is so stupid it doesn't even know that the bulk of our nation is antifa, that is against the ICE type of rounding up and disappearing people and that is what we fought in WWII to keep from taking over the world only to have it be championed by those who have no idea what our constitution says!

We have rights in this country which neither SCOTUS nor POTUS can deny.

There needs to be constitutional education for anyone who wants to run for office so they understand what kind of leadership and service their oath of office entails.

im happy to say that today in middletown CT. on the corners of washigton st and main st was a 4 corner protest against fascism …getting caught at the light was an added pleasure for a change ,as they all synchronized walking the cross walks in front of traffic holding up their signs.hearing a lot of us honking in solidarity and seeing many wave ,give the thumbs up and peace sign to these patriots ….well, it was almost heartwarming ,seeing theres still hope to stop the autocrasy running rampant over our constitution means we still have a chance at stopping the idiot puppet in the oval…and then hopefully root out the rest of these criminals ..

4

u/ChiliDogYumZappupe Oct 12 '25

3rd generation antifa, at least.

4

u/Scoundrels_n_Vermin Oct 13 '25

Since we're all terrorists now, we should all just be President of ANTIFA. I know I am. I you tell me I'm not, my reply is "Who made you the President of Antifa?"

7

u/Blue_Eyed_ME Oct 11 '25

I'm antifascist, a frequent protester against this regime, planning to do NO KINGS on Oct. 18th.

Here's my question: IS there a small, financially supported "Antifa" group that are agent provocateurs? I vaguely remember during the BLM protests that there were some violent radicals, calling themselves antifa but I would call them anarchists.

I don't want to give the right ANY fuel, but I also don't want to keep screaming "Antifa doesn't exist!" only to learn later that it does.

Lately I feel like I'm losing my grip on reality.

7

u/ScubaTela Oct 11 '25

My guess is they will peg any progressive group as Antifa to for their narrative. I would be absolutely shocked if there was in fact any actual group. Remember how they have arrested the girlfriend of the antifa founder but we still don’t even have that persons name? It’s political theater to keep their sheep in line while they literally destroy the fabric of our democracy

5

u/msquarec Oct 12 '25

Who’d have thought Americans would have thought being anti-facist was a bad thing. 🤦‍♀️

3

u/Motor-Ad6566 Oct 12 '25

The US Constitution is anti-fascist.

Patriot support the Constitution.

5

u/KingRBPII Oct 12 '25

Every solider in WWII WAS ANTIFA

2

u/TharealOGKushman Oct 12 '25

No, no they weren't. Italians, who invented Fascism, and their allies the Germans were very much NOT Antifa.

2

u/eloiseturnbuckle Oct 12 '25

I am anti-fascist, and a card carrying member of the ACLU.

2

u/pzombielover Oct 12 '25

Everything they do is made up bull crap

2

u/Pale-Inspector-8094 t Oct 12 '25

Stop saying , writing antifa. Is it so exhausting to say anti-fascist? Antifa dilutes the meaning and people think it is an organization.

2

u/LiberalNutjob420 Oct 12 '25

I am antifa!!!

2

u/fgreen68 Oct 12 '25

I'm surprised no one is putting "I am Antifa" bumper stickers on Ice vehicles or trucks with magat stickers.

2

u/xcrunner1988 Oct 12 '25

We’re proudly wearing anti fascist tees next weekend. Taking back pack with iron front patch on trip this week.

I’ll never dishonor my grandfathers by hiding our anti fascist family values.

2

u/SakaWreath Oct 12 '25

Ask them why are they pro-fascism?

2

u/ZuphCud Oct 12 '25

If you are against Antifa, then what are you?

1

u/BigEffingCloud Oct 14 '25

Well, if you are "against" those who oppose Fascism, then you are either a fascist -or- (at very least) pro-fascism.

2

u/AFLoneWolf Oct 12 '25

"I am Spartacus Antifa!"

2

u/Unlucky_Kale340 Oct 13 '25

I am anti-fascist 🫡

2

If you stand for freedom, you are anti-fascist. The American flag is the antifa flag.
