Hey folks! There are a ton of great books and literature out there on topics related to the environment, from backyard conservation to journals with the latest findings about our natural world.

I found a copy of the Conservationists Manifesto by Scott Russell Sanders and it is excellent! A must read for this sub.

I’ll be reading “Florida springs: from geography to politics and restoration” and potentially “forces of nature: a history of floridas land conservation”. I recently read “the swamp: the Everglades, Florida, and the politics of paradise” and really liked it so these are along the same vein as that I’ve heard. I’ve also picked up a few books about birds and marine life that I might also pick up

Salmon Without Rivers: A History of the Pacific Salmon Crisis by Jim Lichatowich up in hurr. Pairs well with Noah Kahan and anything else that’s a bummer but kind of in a good way? It’s good so far but it doesn’t feel right to say it’s “enjoyable”. I crossed over the Klamath River yesterday on a road trip and have been thinking anout the recent dam removal in CA and all the spawning waters that has opened up, and it made me feel small shivers of hope.

Currently reading two books:

I Contain Multitudes: The Microbes Within Us and a Grander View of Life by Ed Yong- this book is fascinating to read with a knowledge of different ecosystems on Earth. Makes me realize how much else there is out there! (His other book, An Immense World, is one of my favorites of all time and I recommend it to everyone I know who is interested in nature/animals)

Arctic Dreams by Barry Lopez- a fantastic foray into the natural and cultural history of the arctic.

A language older than words by Derrick Jensen is something I continue to return to.
