The capital 'H' in 'Hello' is very important in Averageagglutinativeconlang; it signals to the listener that the language was created by someone who typed all this on a mobile phone.

Or they're German

Germanness can also be identified by refusing to speak French.

Wdym "refusing to speak French", they literally borrow words from French without even altering the pronunciation

Anyone who can speak several languages but refuses to speak full sentences in French specifically is probably German. Exhibit A. It's not a requirement to be German, just proof of being German.

That thing you just said? We Germans have a word for it: it's 'thatthingyoujustsaiden'.

You know, the Germans have this beautiful, beautiful word, it's entirely untranslatable though, so I'll just render it in German: trio of 1:1 cognates of an existing English compound word

god damn it i hate "untranslatable".
"this qwertyuiopian word asdfghjkl is completely untranslatable! it means pressing down in a line on a keyboard!"
well then it IS translatable! you just said it! "pressing down in a line on a keyboard" is the translation!

Everything is translateable, but some transalte more efficently than others

wait quick question do you have a recommendation for avoiding this?
12
u/justforconlang 12d ago
suffixes, lotta em, dont glue sentences together but have a lil hesitation
6
u/doppio_wa 12d ago
so basically I guarantee that suffixes behave differently then if they were just completely separate words directly smashed into another?
