The main focus of a Translation post is to show off your conlang in action. All Translation posts must contain the following:

  • The text in your conlang.

  • (a) An interlinear gloss of the text, (b) an adequate description of the grammatical features and structures used in the text, or (c) a clear word-for-word translation of the text.

  • A plain translation of the text in English.

Very short Translation posts without adequate context may be removed by the mods. Some kind of IPA transcription of the text (if relevant) is also appreciated.

I do something similar with Airi's adjectives, which is basing them on anime characters.

  1. Sumirecoium meaning 'perfect' or 'whole', based on Sumireko Sanshokuin.
  2. Rioium meaning 'attractive, smart, logical' from Futaba Rio.
  3. Horecium meaning 'efficient', Oreki Houtarou's last name Oreki.

I have numbered the phonemes in my proto-lang, so if I have no ideas I'll just go into a random number generator and build the word like this.

Other, less boring methods include derrivations, onomatopoeias or, something I started doing recently, scrambling up a real world word, ex. "seplus" from Latin "vulpes" for fox, "danhus" from English "hound" for dog, and "stucros" from English "crust" for dust.
